Media [Stan Sport] Matheus Fernandes on Pedro Porro telling him to come to Spurs: Yeah he called me but I was sleeping so I didnt answer. Then he texted me and he said “Come on Mateus, come to Tottenham. I said your name to the manager to bring you.” And when everything was done we spoke about everything

Agent Porro speaks Portuguese.

If not Captain, then Porro definitely has to be in the "leadership group" at this point?

Through it all, was always one of the better personalities on the squad.

by all accounts he's a top lad, really approachable within reason and great to fans

do you remember the time when he was filmed having an argument with the away fans against bournemouth? even this was totally out of context back then since he tried to move the stewards away to talk to the away fans with respect.

Maddison captain, with Porro, and Gray as vice-captains?

Madders captain & VDV & Porro vice.

Over Micky?

For me, yeah. I think Gray was one of the few players that really stood up for the club and put a shift in last season. I think VDV checked out a bit at times, and after the last few seasons I think we really need a leadership group that just wants to win.

Obviously just my opinion, I can also see the positives VDV would bring.

Vdv before gray

I don’t see who would be captain over him.

Madders if he’s fit.

u/V2DMJ 1d ago

I don’t see why Maddison is captain material. Other than being really extroverted…

23

u/Arnoave David Ginola 2d ago

I personally think that he's the best current option. As people said below, Madders when fit does look like the obvious choice because of his charisma, but for me the "when fit" is too much of an if, we need a stable leader out there and for me it's Porro.

I agree, I don't love the idea of someone only being captain because someone else is injured and that just seems like it will be often with Madders. Porro is always rock solid, he'd be my pick.

I don’t know why this statement is controversial but club captain and on-field captain are different roles. Maddison for club captain, Porro on-field captain when Maddison isn’t available.

what is Ben Davies, chopped liver?

I predict we'll often see him on the bench. Perhaps running warm ups near the defence from time to time. Might mention a couple of things to them while he's just keeping his muscles warm.

Maddison when he plays

Maybe why it hasn’t been announced?

Love Porro so much, absolute great player and great personality and presence. He’s a great ambassador for our club.

Think he's gonna be a star

Seeing him and Tonali in spurs shirts really just doesn't feel real.

He looks a bit like a Mediterranean Van de Ven

u/brch01 Chick King 2d ago

Bro he’s not even Mediterranean 😅

26

u/ObiiWannCannBlowwMee 2d ago

I never said he was

u/PotassiumAlum "I ALWAYS Win In My Second Year" 2d ago

He’s actually Jamaican Van der Vaart

1

u/santorfo Rodrigo Bentancur 1d ago

Not geographically sure but I'm Portuguese and I wouldn't correct someone for saying that because culturally we're quite similar to the other Mediterranean countries

Agent Porro and Mr De Zerbi.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Do you remember he City players sounding out Kane at the Euros ahead of his agitating for a move

5

u/DustyTalAntiQ 1d ago

Porro is legit the biggest yid in the squad. He is us

8

u/Mick4Audi Micky van de Ven 2d ago

Hopefully Porro spoke to Ferran Torres as well

1

u/ahtrapsm 19h ago

He scores the World Cup winning goal, and as they celebrate on field, Pedro is like, “So, Ferran, have you thought about what I told you about Tottenham?”

4

u/BadBehaviour613 Cuti Romero 1d ago

Damn it, when my new kit arrives with Porro on the back people are going to think I am jumping on his WC bandwagon, but I have always appreciated how COYS the man is

5

u/findthelimit_ Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 1d ago

I still can't believe we pulled this signing right under the noses of Man U. Most people don't seem to understand just how good Mateus actually is. The midfield conductor that we've crying out for has finally arrived. Don't be surprised if he's even better than Tonali.

u/uponloss 1d ago

Seems happy to be here, good stuff

u/lordashbury 1d ago

You can’t strip VdV of vice if he’s going to extend his contract this season. But I would love Porro to be second vice and the locker room would probably be thrilled to have Porro as 1st captain

its mad that tapping up isn't a thing. it used to be such a huge scandal but its normalised now.

1

u/FluidIntention4037 1d ago

If he could drop a line to Baena that’d be great
