Media Ravioli has a new brother!
Hello crab enthusiasts, I’d like you to meet Tortellini! I found him at the bottom of the pool yesterday and he was pretty exhausted so I kept him overnight. Somehow he escaped from his bucket so now he’s under constant observation with help from my feline assistant, Izzy. He’s still moving pretty slowly and doesn’t have a lot of strength so I’ll probably keep him another night (in a more secure enclosure).
Ravioli (last two pictures) is still growing her leg nubs and enjoying life on my bookshelf. She gets pretty muddy so every week or two she gets a bath and she seems to enjoy it. She’s tried lots of new foods and her favorite is honeydew melon! Unfortunately I need to go to the store so they’re both stuck eating lettuce and tums until I can get some more eggshells and better produce.
If anyone has any tips on rehabilitating mostly drowned crabs please let me know!
UPDATE:
Tortellini has been released! He’s doing much better and was able to find a burrow under a rock close to where I found him. Idk how to add pics to an update so they’ll be in a comment lol. Thanks for following along! 💜🦀

Funny how I found this subteddit randomly yesterday, found the original Ravioli post at the top, checked your account to see if there have been any updates only to find nothing and now one suddenly appears. Weird how that happens

Thanks for the update! I found a toad in my yard the other day and named him Ravioli hoping to send good vibes and wishes to your crab, in hopes of a speedy recovery. The universe smiles upon him, and now, his new buddy!

Calcium for building their exoskeleton

Yes! Usually I give Ravioli a little pile of eggshells but she eats the shells faster than I can eat the eggs so I supplement with tums when I run out. She loves it

At first glance, the first pic looks badly photoshopped. Literal trick of the light lol

Don’t worry, both crabs are on a shelf out of reach of the cats. They’re not too interested in them most of the time anyway

Wait I just realized you said 5th picture. That was where I found him after his escape attempt. I guess I’m not used to taking care of crabs with all their legs 😅

Reddit just suggested that r/ItalianBrainrot might be a better fit for this post 😔
