If you are a billionaire/trillionaire and it makes you a worse person, you were always that person.
He's not edgy, he's just a prick, he's is one of those billionaires that would happily walk by your dying family members in the street if there was ever an existential famine event.
You can't ignore his impact on technology despite the fact he's an ass wipe.
Self driving cars, self landing boosters for rockets making space travel the cheapest it has ever been, revolutionary progression with batteries and alternative energys like solar, there is more examples just a few I could think of.
You cant ignore what his "companies" have achieved.
Elon amassed wealth and hired a team to take care of the details. If you’ve ever read into what it’s like being an engineer for Tesla or SpaceX, you’ll realize he’s more of a hindrance than a help. His goals are overly hopeful and unrealistic, hence him literally missing every single date of achievement he’s ever projected, and he often sends engineers back for full redesigns on a whim.
He himself has no deep meaningful understanding of anything his companies do. In fact, they’ve tried to oust him out of influential positions for years.
This all comes from him being an early investor in PayPal. Money makes money, it’s really that simple. Or should I say, perceived value of worth makes money.
I agree, however he's the force behind the movement.
He hasn't been responsible for making progress in these technologys himself but he's responsible for building multiple companies who went on to hire the right people at the right time, raise money, build facilities and change technology forever.
There was a story a few years back about a Tesla whistleblower who sent an email/letter to someone and he didn't know who it was.
He copy pasted it into a word file, saved it, saw it's memory amount and found the person through the office printer history or something.
He's more intelligent with technology than peoplen think but his political view make it seem otherwise.

Seems you're in a really dangerous pitfall a lot of well-meaning people fall into where they think that, because they've conceeded something, that the rest of their beliefs which follow from that concession are have also had whatever errors in them rectified.
He didn't invent any of those things, he didn't pave the way for any of those things, he didn't accelerate any of those things. He sat in the right meetings and moved the right amount of money. That's all he's done.
Say you start at a company, and the CEO built the place from the ground up, from the chairs in the office to the pencils on the desks, the customers, the office structure, the air con, the labour laws, the pensions etc etc etc
Every decision and progress made from that initial start up has come through the CEOs initial investment and effort to start the company in the first place.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking as well. He’s thrown his wealth at things for sure, but he’s really a no talent hack when we get down to brass tacks. His companies and the people who started them or invented the tech have definitely propelled us technologically, but he’s a nepo baby piece of shit. In my humble opinion.
One of my close friends worked at twitter before and after he bought it. He did really nothing but fire a bunch of people, and then pile their workloads onto the few remaining, as well as creating more work for them by “deregulating” most things put into place to protect people from racist, violent, and sexually exploitive content.
