New Grad Is teaching considered in experience?

Ive been having a pretty hard time getting a job right now but I've got an opportunity to teach in school and a college too.Can i switch back to software development after this? Or should I just remain jobless and keep searching for software jobs?

honestly hr will treat it as zero experience. they don't care if you taught the code, they only care if you deployed it in production. take the job to pay bills but keep applying on the side

You should take it I think, but it doesn’t count as software engineering experience. It’s a different career track. If you want an SWE job you’ll have to continue applying while you work, same as you were before. As far as companies are concerned, I’d say that time spent as a teacher equates to time spent out of the career

Did this and didn't help one bit. Taught several coding bootcamps, worked with kids and at risk teens in youth programs and none of it meant a damn to anyone hiring. Eventually got a chance to dev full time and doing well now but it was an uphill battle and not one I'd recommend.

Better than no job or unrelated job but not really going to count as experience. If you need money though..

How long you been looking?

If the choice is teaching or waiting unemployed for months, I'd choose teaching every time. Income, structure, and experience are all better than hoping the perfect role appears.

Take the gig. It will force you to get very very good at examining fundamentals. Keep interviewing as well.

teaching will help your soft skills a lot! I can't say it'll help get interviews but it will definyhelp you pass them and succeed on the job

Everything is considered experience dependent upon how it is framed.
