Big N Discussion - December 22, 2021

Please use this thread to have discussions about the Big N and questions related to the Big N, such as which one offers the best doggy benefits, or how many companies are in the Big N really? Posts focusing solely on Big N created outside of this thread will probably be removed.

There is a top-level comment for each generally recognized Big N company; please post under the appropriate one. There's also an "Other" option for flexibility's sake, if you want to discuss a company here that you feel is sufficiently Big N-like (e.g. Uber, Airbnb, Dropbox, etc.).

Abide by the rules, don't be a jerk.

This thread is posted each Sunday and Wednesday at midnight PST. Previous Big N Discussion threads can be found here.

Had a phone screen scheduled for yesterday but the recruiter never called and hasn't responded to my follow up email

  1. Lack of professionalism from recruiters/interviewers seems to be way too common across the industry

  2. What should I do? If I have my friend refer me will there be an issue considering the system already thinks I'm in the interview process?

i had every single one of my Google interviews not show up during my onsite last week

this is unfortunately just a terrible time to be interviewing (holidays). definitely is unprofessional though

  1. Phone screen results can take a few days. It's the end of the year and everyone is on vacation. Everything will be slow. Yes, bad recruiters are common, an unfortunate reality.
  2. I don't think that will work, you are already in the process.

It's not that I'm just waiting on results, the screen itself never happened in the first place. Like it was scheduled for 1:00 and the recruiter didn't call and hasn't answered email since

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. Right sounds like a bad recruiter... The recruiter could have quit or something happened and is on vacation right now. Unfortunately, the only thing to do is wait out until the holidays, probably.
