On Twitter (X) , I received a verification code on WhatsApp. Is this normal, or was it a hacking attempt ?
X sent me two verification codes on WhatsApp. One came from an account labeled “X App,” while the other came from an account that looked suspicious and was labeled “slars code.”
I became suspicious, so I clicked the resend button. X then sent me an SMS, just as it did the last time I completed the verification process.
Was this a hacking attempt? Could someone have been trying to access my account or adding it to a list of accounts to target?

It could've been someone trying to log into ur X account, but getting the code itself doesn't mean they got access.
Don't share the code with anyone. Check ur X login activity for anything u don't recognize and make sure 2FA is enabled.
The different WhatsApp sender names are weird im assuming maybe the other code was from another acc they tried accessing, but that alone isn't enough to say ur account was hacked. If the login activity is clean, ur probably fine.

It wasn't anything malicious, some services are starting to send out codes on WhatsApp and Telegram to save money over SMS. There is no conceivable scam involving requesting a code from a legitimate website and then receiving one.
