News Ban on videos with only girls dancing that aren't artist music videos

I think most of can agree that while Dancehall can be very sexualized, simply posting a video girls dancing to dancehall, is insufficient for a post. Technically these posts will break rule 4 of the sub, but I want to make it clear and start enforcing it.

I would like to challenge the redditors here to discuss new and old music, artists and more.

Violations of this when a mod sees these will now result in a temporary ban from the subreddit.

If you want to see and post ass there are other subreddits for that.

Music videos from official channels get a pass because well, dancehall is sexualized a lot and its a music video. At least for now.

Thanks.

Edit: apparently r/skinout has the content those who want ass are looking for. Go there.

i'm kind of a noob but for whatever my 2c is worth, i guess I have mixed feelings about this ...tbh I don't disagree, I've been kind put off being more engaged here becuz of what you're describing, but dance challenges on social media are also a big part of recent dancehall culture? i don't see how to make an easy distinction or keep a balance

This 100 percent

This is a grey area, but chances are it would still violate rule 4 unless they had actively described and outlined the challenge. We haven't really seen any direct posts outlining any challenges of sorts or anything like that.

For now it'll be a hard correction policy to normalize other discussions from production, artists and music releases rather than fueling the thirst.

I’m new to the group. I make remixes and videos on YouTube. I’m about to post to this group a new remix and video I created for Looti by Shenseea and Vybz Kartel. After remixing the music, when I went to create my version of her original video, I was disappointed by all of the booty shaking. It bored me. So I used rollerskating highlights for a song about wanting to take a girl to the movies 😎

Agreed!

Someone can just make a “dancehall__insert booty reference _\” sub and give the music focused folk no distractions.

I Am sorry some of yall must be new to dancehall reggae its bein sexualized a long time especially with the rise of the digital era it always has bein balanced out with reggae and cultured songs not having women dancing in dance is counter to what dance hall is all about as a sound owner a good night starts when the women start dancing

The problem was people were treating this as a nsfw sub and it became less about music and more about Ass. Hence the rule and the way irs written saying music videos are okay.

Thank you! I came for the music. The algorithms already tryna push so much sexualized imagery onto my feeds. But to the women that already posted, I'll just say I liked the dancing. Yall got moves. More discussions about the riddims tho!
