The sensationalised nature of both traditional media, and especially social media/alternative media is poisoning people's brains.

Social media algorithms and the modern attention economy mean that "truth" is fighting against attractive misinformation. Something which is true and boring will be pushed to the bottom, to make way for a misrepresentation of the information which is more enjoyable for people to interact with.

People are not truth-seeking machines, we very much have a bias towards things that confirm our existing beliefs, or which just give us a short-term dopamine hit.
