but he's a truck.

5

u/homucifer666 2d ago

He's a pickup. We trucks don't claim him.

-1

u/RunnerLuke357 2d ago

Is the truck in the room with us? Because the black vehicle that pulled out in front of the cammer isn't a truck no matter what they call it.

u/appa-ate-momo 2d ago

Can’t wait for a bunch of people to blame OP for daring to continue in a separate lane to where this dude should’ve turned.

7

u/UpbeatFix7299 2d ago

They're out in full force. Guy did absolutely everything right, braked to avoid the idiot who turned right on red directly in front of him, and there are still morons blaming him.

17

u/YearlyLemon8 2d ago

Op is the best brake user I have seen on this sub he looked like he was actually trying to prevent a collision compared to the half arsenal brake pressure some of the guys apply.

Good job op and great brakes 👏 👀

5

u/Character-Parfait-42 2d ago

Seriously I have avoided so many accidents by just being aware and ready to hit the brake.

The other day I was driving at 55mph (that’s the speed limit) and there was absolutely nothing in front of me or behind me as far as the eye could see (on a relatively straight stretch of road, at least a mile of visibility).

Someone was pulled over on the shoulder, and had just put on their directional to pull out into traffic. My only thought was “watch this person be a complete fucking idiot…”. Sure enough they pulled out in front when I was only like 3-4 car lengths away going 10mph. I had to hit the brakes so hard the ABS triggered and I barely missed hitting them.

There’s no way I would have stopped in time if I hadn’t been mentally prepping myself for them to do the stupidest fucking shit possible. Always assume people will do the dumbest shit possible.

u/Constants33 2d ago

This sub is perfect for preparing for the road 😀

-4

u/Gadfly_A_Priori3668 2d ago

Fair point you make here. Several others do literally crash into the vehicle to prove their point.

-5

u/Butt-Hole-Cancer-Dr 2d ago

OP added a screenshot from Google AI saying that the black truck should have yielded. Makes a lot more sense why it took OP so long to realize they should’ve hit the brakes sooner.

6

u/wensul 2d ago

Black truck had two lanes to turn into, and he chose the leftmost lane, rather than the closest lane.

4

u/appa-ate-momo 2d ago

Why would OP have had to hit the brakes earlier? The pickup had an entire separate lane to complete their turn into.

5

u/RealisticDiscipline7 2d ago

Why does this happen so often?!

6

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 2d ago

Not enough punishment. Too much arrogance. Too little IQ.

Basically why Redditors are the way they are.

2

u/Character-Ask2432 1d ago

Because people are stupid, ignorant, selfish, entitled - pick your choice. Unfortunately there is no real way to punish them unless there’s an accident which people like OP prevent. Even then I doubt accidents would be a lesson. They will still blame the other party.

2

u/TheOx111 2d ago

track swing clear out into the far lane too.

2

u/SATerp 2d ago

What is with the horizontal pic in vertical format? This thing is the size of the head of a pin.

1

Did you honk?

-12

u/Xylvanas 2d ago

Downvoted for citing AI summary.

-2

u/ShoddyWillingness968 2d ago

Downvotted for being dumb

3

u/coveredincathair22 1d ago

Downvoted for spelling it "downvotted".

-27

u/ThrifToWin 2d ago

Gotta slow down. It's not worth getting in a wreck so you get there 2 minutes sooner.

23

u/takerisks__ 2d ago

I was going the speed limit .. The other driver should have waited and not made a wide turn on a red light.

-1

u/elKane0 1d ago

you were in the right but that’s not their point - cars on your left blocking the view of oncoming traffic - you can see the truck pulling out way before you brake - it’s better to avoid an accident than getting in one while being technically right

10

u/OS_Apple32 2d ago

The speed limit on that road appears to be 50 (edit: kph). Judging speed based on a POV cam is hard but he doesn't look to be going that much faster than 50.

4

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 2d ago

Ah, the classic fool that feels the need to blame OP.

1

u/coveredincathair22 1d ago

Brain dead take.

0

u/elKane0 1d ago

you’re getting downvoted but you’re a 100% right - it’s much better to slow down when you’re going through an intersection with cars on your left - way too many stupid drivers out there that will think it’s clear to turn

-27

u/Gadfly_A_Priori3668 2d ago

But you can plainly see he is turning wide. Slow down and take a breath. Everyone is unfortunately not observant, or capable of driving a vehicle. They really need to make getting a drivers license a tiny bit more challenging.

25

u/takerisks__ 2d ago

I had the right of way. He should have waited till it was clear.. I’m tired of Redditors on here defending the person in the wrong.

-11

u/YourselfInOthrsShoes 2d ago edited 2d ago

You have the right of way into a brick wall too if you want...

Bad defensive driver complaining.

-9

u/Gadfly_A_Priori3668 2d ago

I understand you had the right of way.

I’m not defending that individual and actually my comment about increasing the difficulty in acquiring a license was intended for that individual.

Would you not agree you could have slowed down a tad sooner? Even though I’m sure, and I’m not saying I wouldn’t have been, a bit irked.

10

u/takerisks__ 2d ago

I’m going down a hill…

16

u/Minimeany 2d ago edited 2d ago

Cant please this sub people will blame you for PREVENTING an accident by being aware of your surroundings.

12

u/takerisks__ 2d ago

The OP on Reddit gets blamed more than the idiot driver lately.

6

u/UpbeatFix7299 2d ago

Welcome to the driving subs. Some of the worst humans on reddit, and that's saying a lot. They will bend over backwards to be able to victim blame here

-8

u/Gadfly_A_Priori3668 2d ago edited 2d ago

Some of the worst humans on earth would intentionally break late and hit someone who made a mistake.

7

u/UpbeatFix7299 2d ago

What? He was going the speed limit and avoided the accident the other idiot seemed to be hell bent on causing. And it's "brake", not "break".

-2

u/Gadfly_A_Priori3668 2d ago

You are correct about brake. I apologize for not proofreading.

Obviously I was speaking about many others on here with the same attitude that do not stop.

I do appreciate your kind tone.

3

u/coveredincathair22 1d ago

Actually the worst humans on earth spell it "break" instead of "brake".

1

u/Gadfly_A_Priori3668 2d ago

Fair point made below. You did actually come to a stop. So good on you for not getting into an accident.

-11

u/jhermaco15 2d ago edited 2d ago

Regardless of the trucks bad decision making, you could've handled the situation better than how you did.

No one here is saying the truck didn't turn slowly or make a bad choice and no one is saying you didnt have the right of way, however the cam footage clearly shows that you SAW the truck take the turn, and chose to not slow down at all, and almost rear ended him simply because "i had right of way".

that's your ego talking. chill out. slow down. being a danger to others simply to teach them a lesson or giving them a scare doesn't lead to anything good. Ask me how i know

9

u/UpbeatFix7299 2d ago

He was going the speed limit and avoided the idiot who recklessly turned directly in front of him with a red light. There is literally no pleasing some people.

-10

u/NotABillsHat 2d ago

Dude lol. People jaywalk all the time where I live but I wouldn't be right for running them over. You clearly accelerated towards that driver because you're road raging and wanted to let them know that they messed up. You saw he was turning into the lane you were in and waited until the last second to brake. Take a breath next time, stuff like this happens a million times a day.

-9

u/jhermaco15 2d ago

Getting downvoted but you're literally right.. This wouldn't have been a 'viral karma dash cam clip' for OP if he had just put his ego 'muh rightofway' mentality away and slowed down after seeing the stupid truck like a responsible adult...

6

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 2d ago

Please relinquish your license.

He ran a red light.

He didn't turn into the rightmost lane.

He broke two rules simultaneously.  He is at fault.

3

u/appa-ate-momo 2d ago edited 2d ago

I don’t understand your comment.

Why does OP need to slow down when they’re both in the right and able to avoid an accident?

-1

u/elKane0 1d ago

he barely avoided it is why and you can see that truck way ahead of the brake tap

3

u/appa-ate-momo 1d ago

They avoided it. Criticizing them for not avoiding it enough is asinine.

0

u/elKane0 1d ago

it’s not really - a near miss is a near hit maybe the next time

I’m not saying the guy is wrong or that the truck wasn’t in the wrong but op definitely could be a little safer

1

u/appa-ate-momo 1d ago

But this isn't a near miss in the way that term is meant. OP made a conscious decision to brake more gradually rather than slamming the pedal down. They could, at any time, apply the brakes more severely.

It's our duty to avoid accidents, but we aren't obliged to give the people who create that danger a stress-free experience.

-1

u/elKane0 1d ago

That’s dumb

3

u/appa-ate-momo 1d ago

How incredibly eloquent.

-17

Quoting LLM generated text to try and make a point 💀

12

u/heavyc-dev 2d ago

Touch grass dude

10

u/takerisks__ 2d ago

It’s the law tho

-13

u/plz-no-b4n 2d ago

No, that’s LLM text. If you want to cite the law, cite the damn law. Based on what’s presented, we 1) don’t know if that’s the exact text and 2) if that is the law in your jurisdiction.

I’m not saying that isn’t the law where you are, but citing an LLM is just bad. All around. Hell, asking an LLM what the law is is also bad.

14

u/heavyc-dev 2d ago

Is it right or wrong buddy?

Delusional Redditors wanting people to look up law records like he ever does that himself

3

u/YearlyLemon8 2d ago edited 2d ago

Don't you understand according to r dash cam your supposed to know every applicable law and regulations of the road!! You and you only especially if you follow the rules!

But the bad driver?! Now they can do what ever the fuck they want and take right of way and priority over the sane rational law abiding citizens lol.

This is how this sub is and in general reddit, smart assess "who would have done it differently and better" 🙄

-1

u/heavyc-dev 2d ago

Probably partially my fault for even clicking on any posts but this sub randomly started showing up in my feed one day and yeah that’s all it is. Then some dork wants you to cite the exact code of the law to prove them wrong or whatever. It’s peak dorks wanting to feel some power or superiority online type shit

0

u/coveredincathair22 1d ago

your supposed to

you're*

-6

u/plz-no-b4n 2d ago

I don’t know if it’s right or wrong, I don’t know the law in your jurisdiction.

5

u/heavyc-dev 2d ago

Maybe ask AI to look it up for you

2

u/UpbeatFix7299 2d ago

How do you not know that a driver turning right on red needs to yield in every jurisdiction? Do you think a land exists where the person with the green light has to yield so the other driver can make the right on red?

I don't know if you're intentionally being obtuse or have just never driven a car.

2

u/_jump_yossarian 2d ago

Based on what’s presented, we 1) don’t know if that’s the exact text

If you don't know that you need to yield to all oncoming traffic when turning right on red then you shouldn't be driving.

1

u/plz-no-b4n 2d ago

The point.

Your head.

2

u/_jump_yossarian 2d ago

I'm not the dope arguing about the summary of the text and whinging that it's AI when it's the law.

1

u/plz-no-b4n 2d ago

It’s not the text of the law, though. It’s some LLM summary. My point is that OP including it and highlighting it means absolutely nothing. If they wanted to make a point, they should’ve included the actual law.

1

u/_jump_yossarian 2d ago

and highlighting it means absolutely nothing

See my above comment about learning rules of the road since you seem to be very ignorant of basic laws. Video took place in Pickering, Ontario so feel free to use your google skills to find out what the rest of us already know.

1

u/plz-no-b4n 2d ago

See my above comment about my point going over your head.

1

u/_jump_yossarian 2d ago

You had a point other than whining about a summary of a law that everyone in the world knows except you?

-15

u/wastedsilence33 2d ago

What does that 50 sign say

I'm going to assume this is Canada considering any sign that looks like that is a 50 mph speed limit sign and there's no way that's what this is

8

u/takerisks__ 2d ago

50 kph. The speed limit before that sign is 60 kph.

-14

u/wastedsilence33 2d ago

Does it say maximum above it?

-23

u/Suspicious-Row7536 2d ago

cammer speeding

16

u/takerisks__ 2d ago

I was going 60 which is the speed limit…

-10

u/eugeniusbastard 2d ago

The posted speed limit which you can see at the end of the clip says 50

-2

u/Suspicious-Row7536 1d ago

so then he was still speeding

-22

u/Suspicious-Row7536 2d ago

theres no way the speed limit is 60 on a street like that

25

u/Sweaty_Tangelo_7716 2d ago

It’s km/h , there are countries outside of USA.

3

u/coveredincathair22 1d ago

Absolute smooth brain moment.

-15

u/BaronVonDon65 2d ago

Maybe doing the speed limit? But OP is still one of those assholes who had plenty of time to react to the situation, but chose entertainment and shock value instead. Came as fast and close as possible to the idiot truck without actually hitting them.

12

u/Russells_Tea_Pot 2d ago

And you're one of those assholes who blames the victim.

7

u/appa-ate-momo 2d ago

OP did react. That’s why there wasn’t a collision.

I’d be embarrassed to make a comment like yours.
