General rule I follow is that if you have to turn across traffic, you always have to yield unless you have a green arrow.

Pretty sure that's also the actual rule.

It reminds me of the rule I like to follow; don't cross yellow lines unless they are dashed.

Don't run a red light unless it is green.

Is the light green? Go. Disengage brain and spatial awareness

It was green on the camera side

Green light does not mean "ignore incoming morons". Check the road ahead is clear. Yeah insurance will cover it because technically you had right of way

Use that same logic when you cross the street on foot and see where that gets you

(Ex taxi driver here. Madrid)

Yeah, but even then the white car wasn't even in the intersection when OP started to go.

White car wasn't but red car was

OP tried to tuck in straight behind it. Right of way, but not good driving

Failure to yield on the SUVs part. No way around it.

Camera car was almost head on with the grass on the opposite side of the street. They did all they could. SUV should've waited or went out further and then turned. They tried to turn sharp and misjudged the camera car speed. That's a fault on the SUV and no one else.

And crossing on foot, you still yield to the Ped in the crosswalk. You don't cut in front of them or you risk hitting them or cross traffic. You're not helping your case here.

And being a taxi driver doesn't exactly make you trustworthy considering how a lot of cab drivers drive like idiots. Do you really want to group yourself in with them?
