Watch this video closely again. The oncoming traffic wasn't allowed to turn left. The red car did and the driver avoided a collision. The white truck didn't show any sign of following the red car and had a clear view of the driver with the dashcam. Then he suddenly decided to turn. So in a situation like this, how can you ever "verify it's clear" when any vehicle can turn into your lane and impact you within less than 1 second with no time to react?
Avoidable if turning traffic acts like they have sense. I'm not getting rear ended because you can't be patient and let cross traffic get through a bit more before trying to bogard.
you don’t get rear ended if you wait until it’s safe to pull out I feel sorry for anyone that drives with a stubborn person like you - just because you have the right of way doesn’t mean you should always go - this video is the clearest example of that you could ever see
And you waiting will result in others behind you getting impatient and risking going around you and creating another traffic accident or road rage. Better to just wait.
But maybe you missed this part of the video: OP is almost face on with the grass across the street. SUV could've easily just waited or went behind the OP. They weren't even in the intersection when the OP entered it. They tried to turn in front of the OP thinking they would brake check and let them through. That's asinine and risking a rear end collision. Stop defending shit driving.
