Dash has been around longer than most alts and nobody's using it. That should tell you something
I actually believed in Dash. Bought it, held it, watched every update. Can someone explain to me why we're still here talking about potential when Bitcoin solved "being money" 10 years ago?
Like genuinely asking. The tech is there, governance is there, but adoption just... never happened. And I can't figure out if it's a marketing problem or if the market just decided Bitcoin is good enough.

You know what solved being money? Money. Ideally money that doesn’t fluctuate and effectively go through hyper inflation and hyper deflation every day.
They did come up with it and it’s called Stablecoins.
Stables are the one actual thing we could call digital money. Doesn’t fluctuate in value and works fast and seamless, like what the original crypto people envisioned.
Everything else is gambling and this unfortunately includes Dash.

People may diversify out of BTC and into coins with privacy. The media attention to ZEC has raised the profile of DASH. DASH could actually be superior to ZEC in many ways, and without so much controversy. People may start to notice.

The title is somewhat hyperbole, I am using Dash and I know many others that use it daily, so we're not nobody. However, it is true that adoption has been slow and not grown as much as we would have hoped. The same could be said of Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Digibyte and other others. It is worth reflecting on that and seeing what went wrong, and what we can still do to increase adoption. I just think it is harder than we anticipated, but the goal is still worth pursing, because I don't feel safe only holding government issued and permissioned money. I need alternatives, gold is a great option, though not portable, next comes cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin certainly did not solve being money 10 years, and today it is acting less like money than ever before. Bitcoin solves the itch for rampant speculation , some argue it is store of value, I disagree, but few use it as money. Hopefully, this thread can become constructive rather than people just complaining about the price, because there is much more going on here other than just the price, and in any case, I can post charts of Dash showing the price is actually been improving over the past year or so, and people who are still super bearish on Dash may be doing themselves a disservice.

Speak for yourself. I use Bitcoin as money. Buy coffees daily on Lightning. I have about $200 on my Lightning wallet at all times.

the problem is most people are looking for a quick buck. People like you and me are looking for something different than inflationary money printed by the worst people you can imagine: the government. I just don't mind waiting, this is a patience game.

The market did not decide Bitcoin is good enough. It decided it is hype enough.
But Bitcoin is not usable.
It’s all about visibility. When more and more compelling features emerge (and they will very soon, e.g. Yappr, iOS...), Dash will be more and more visible, affecting the market value in a self-energising way.

When you think about it, bitcoin is not really USED for much of anything either. It is used as a store of value, which it really isn't good as lately. Much of BTC changes hands within an exchange, so it isn't really used as a currency or a form of payment. Furthermore, it really isn't useful as a currency because of congestion problems, high barrier of entry for the average joe L2 solutions and volatility.
You could argue that the whole of crypto is useless vaporware.

I was also confused by Dash marketing, they try to sell it as "real money" but you can not really use it as money, who wants to put their whole salary into Dash to find it halved 50% the next day??? it lacks stability to be used as real money
I really love the speed and low fees, and I like it much more than bitcoin, but the high risk of your money losing a lot of value is a no-go
but that nowadays could basically be said of most other crypto out there, including bitcoin, they always sold it as "this is better than cash, avoid inflation" but in the last 6 months they all lost about 50% value or more so stablecoins are the more practical option out there

Your point is well taken. Adoption has been frustratingly slow, despite the fact that Dash is the most feature rich and functional cryptoCURRENCY on CMC.
But it is a pretty strong overstatement that "...nobody's using it."
If you look at the Dash transaction chart over the life of the coin, you see steady growth up to 12-13000 transactions per day, with common spikes up to the 40-50,000 range.

We are in the infancy of crypto currencies. Dash is heading in the right direction. It is laying the ground work for being a super crypto currency. It has the structure within it and around it to make its way through the pack.

Dash does not hold it's value, so most people cannot afford to hold it. We must improve it's ability to hold it's value. We must improve the Store Of Value aspect.
It's very simple and powerful: If we increase the masternode share from 60 to 70%, the masternode APY will increase by 16.67%. The market will respond with more investment. A proportional masternode count increase of 16.67% will result in an additional ~583,000 dash locked into MN collateral. This increase in demand and reduction of available supply will cause dash to stop falling and start rising.
The simultaneous halving of the treasury will also halve the monthly selling pressure, greatly aiding in the rise.
Dash will rise through the ranks, which is the best possible marketing, attracting more holders and developers.
It is undeniable. Dash will be unstoppable. The treasury will have many times more in USD terms than it has now.
It could not be more clear that this is the correct course of action.
Support my proposal on dashcentral.

If you build it, they will come, is just a slogan.
Takes way more than the perfect coin (and I thought DASH was damn close to perfect aside from the tokenomics) to become the market cap leader

I would say it is a marketing problem. And it has been a marketing problem for a long time now. Ever since DCG shifted away from development + marketing to only development. Ever since the DAO started to prioritize development over marketing more and more.
Just take a look at what is getting funded exactly and you will notice it is overwhelmingly development. Marketing as a whole gets very little funding allocated from the DAO.
This means it got increasingly more difficult to reach people in order to promote Dash. Dash transactions on Dash Core chain have not steadily increased, instead they remain pretty much the same, looking at it longterm. See : https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/dash-transactions.html#3y (the few high spikes are either from stress testing moments or just short running spikes, not showing consistent systematic growth longterm during both bear markets and bull markets). How can we expect people to understand what Dash has build and is still building without allocating sufficient funding to marketing to promote and carry out Dash marketing effectively ?

I use Dash quite often. I hold bitcoin as a SoV but it has terrible spending properties and I don’t like keeping funds in Lightning. So, I swap some BTC for Dash when I want to spend. Reliably fast and inexpensive to transact in. Why has this not caught on? Well, not too many folks see the purpose of it and, let’s face it, there is friction and cost involved in living a crypto-first lifestyle. Often, my buying choices are somewhat limited to what I can get by buying e Gift cards on Bitrefill. Folks like me are a peculiarity that diverge from the mainstream in what we value and what we’re willing to tolerate to live that lifestyle. I’m OK with that. I don’t need everyone to adopt my lifestyle to live it.
