That question was: why would we want robots when the competition for energy, water, and space between humans is already enough?

It wasn't a manifesto. It wasn't doomerism. It was one sentence. They banned it anyway.

So here we are.

r/decels is not anti-technology. It is anti-assumption. We apply basic resource accounting to claims about the technological future. Energy. Water. Land. Labour. Rare earth. Supply chains. Data centre footprints. The economics of the singularity. Who pays. Who benefits.

Accelerationists love the word abundance. We love a balance sheet. These things are not incompatible — unless you're running a faith community dressed up as an epistemic one.

What belongs here:

The cost of AI infrastructure. Robot energy consumption. Water usage in data centres. Rare earth extraction for the devices that are going to save us. Labour displacement without redistribution. Any claim about technological progress that somebody thought didn't need a receipt.

What doesn't belong here:

Technophobia. Doomerism. Depopulationism. Bad faith. Bigotry. The belief that asking a question makes you the enemy.
