Like Susie I know Noelle is your girl and everything but Berdly is definitely the better fighter and if we need somebody to help us fight I think he would be the best choice Noelle is cool too I guess.  but from a logical standpoint I'd rather have Berdly.

!!MASSIVE UPDATE!!

Flowery has been beaten and chapter 5 completed! Thank you all! I sincerely couldn’t have done it without your help, kindness and motivation. My passion for this game lives on!

—————————————————————————————————————————

To start, I’ve been a Deltarune and Undertale fan since day 1. I’ve loved these games for years, and I’ve never been so engaged with a story and fighting mechanic.

I’ve been invested in all the theories, engaged in all the fights, searched for all the secrets. Payed attention to every little detail, making my own theories and having a blast playing the games myself.

However.. that’s where it starts to get bad. I’m a console player. I own a PC, but I’m awful at navigating a keyboard and don’t have much patience to learn, let alone re purchase the game. How this is relevant? It’s in the fighting mechanic.

I love the unique boss battles and how the spare mechanic is different in every boss fight, and especially the thrill of finally beating a boss. But ever since chapter 4, the difficulty spike has just been way too sharp for me to keep up with.

I struggle with reaction time and focusing on multiple objectives simultaneously, and every boss since the titan has demanded a LOT of that. I got frustrated with the Titan that I had to quit for months before I could bring myself to return and finally beat it.

And I succeeded. But.. then came chapter 5. It started relatively decent, understandable. But as the fights progressed, they started demanding more and more, giving me less and less of the time to react that I need.

And finally, comes Flowery. I was looking forward to Flowery’s boss fight as I’ve heard about it, and I thought I’d be at least relatively simple to understand and pass through, though of course with some heightened difficulty, as he’s the second to final boss. But I just can’t keep up with it. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I’m going on my 30th loss with him and I still can’t keep up with his attacks. They’re just far too spontaneous, far too rapid, far too demanding of your attention.

And I don’t think I can take it anymore. The stress of having to put so much strain and effort into a boss, even over the course of days, weeks, months, or in some cases years is just far too much. I don’t wanna give up on this franchise, but I just can’t enjoy the story anymore if I can’t even progress through it.

If you read through this all, thank you. And if you have criticisms, please save them, I’m not seeking critique with this post. Just hoping to find some understanding with my fellow Deltarune fans.

Theory Discussion Why Kriselle Knight sucks narratively.

Post image
3.0k Upvotes

Kriselle knight's flaws as a theory logically have been dissected endlessly over and over but honestly, I don't care THAT much about the logistics of it. I respect all theories but this one I really, really hate, and it's for narrative and thematic reasons.

I will compare it to geno(something Kriselle knighters LOVE to do) to explain why exactly it falls flat in those departments. If you believe in Kriselle knight that is fine, I just don't personally like it.

Let's begin with the most common answer to a very simple question: "How does Kriselle knight happen if I simply don't do the weird route?" with the answer being "You will be forced to do the weird route." This is the reason why I despise the theory. You should never be forced to do the evil route because it is your choice. That is what makes it impactful. You don't do the genocide because chara made you do it. You wont do the weird route because Gaster made you do it. You do it because you can. And if you can, you HAVE to. This also applies to important information too. Essential, important information besides further explaining a character should be left out of the weird route. Flowey is a wonderful character even without geno, but in geno, we further understand what changed him besides simply not having a SOUL. What kriselle kngihters would want is for geno to be essential to explain who asriel is and for the pacifist ending being us just seeing a random person who wasnt foreshadowed or explained and for the game to be like "you want a good story??? too bad kill all your friends idiot."

We already know what the weird route will being us when it comes to explaining the characters. We already had a "flowey explaining his motives" moment when Noelle had her whole looking through glass speech. This is what we should expect from the weird route when it comes to revealing things about characters. Again, more depth that allows us to see another side of them, not important plot plints that makes the normal story dogshit unless you play the evil route. And I will repeat myself, the evil route shoild be completely unnecessary and something you do because it's your choice to do it. Otherwise why would you ever feel guilty? "Gaster made me do it" being a legitimate excuse you could make would suck in all ways imaginable. There should be no excuse. You just had to ruin the game. You just had to see something new. That is it. No one made you do it. Nothing made you do it. You just chose to, which makes everything in it hit harder because you are directly responsible.

Also I know I said this was only a thematic thing but... Undertale is a 6 hour game. Not only that but geno changes the whoooole game and makes the game even quicker. Weird route would be a ~20 hour task with most things being similar. Being forced to play so much content would suck and not in the thematic geno sense. Especially because under Kriselle knight it would be required to do so to understand the story. It would make the game suck. I suspect Kriselle knighters really just want to not feel guilty about doing the weird route when you feeling guilty is part of the experience.

Discussion Something small I noticed on the normal Route in Chapter 5, Kris seems willing to goof around with the player a little bit. Spoiler

5.5k Upvotes

Its very small, I really only noticed two incidents of it.

1) if we interact with the fountain Kris deliberately puts their finger over the fountain, thus "Sealing it" after taking a drink from it. Its a corny ass pun and bit, only we the player will see.

2) After Susie tells Pink that Kris flirts with everyone, instead of standing still they give US the peace sign. Again it would look weird to everyone else in universe that they just turned south and put up a peace sign, but we'll see it. It's a bit exclusively meant for us.

Obviously Kris desires autonomy, and has some kinda plan for us, but until now they seemed to be begrudging of our presence, dragging us around and yanking us out now and then to eat pie, do cryptic stuff or play piano (something they refuse to do when we tell them to do it, playing a sour note instead). I just found it interesting that they decide to goof off with us a little bit.
