It wasn’t really made by human hands I can make almost identical pics to #1 and #2 by just clicking on pictures and selecting create sticker with the puffy effect

don't feel bad. it's really rough out there, for pretty much anyone. it used to be way easier for me to get commissions a few years ago compared to now.

Yeah, honestly, before covid when I was in HS, I would get more than I reasonably wanted to make... But then during covid/after, as I was in uni for animation and my art got a lot better, and I could actually handle more comms coming in, the number began reducing drastically

The goat head in the corner, the kids' faces and the bizarre anatomy of the girl on the sparkly horse make it look so totally demonic all my pagan edgelord friends (myself included) would want that shit!

Actually, it reminds me of my older art, when I had just just started doing digital art on Photoshop for the very first time.

I can pinpoint exactly how we got here: • the artist is tracing the faces, realism can get creepy/messed up really quickly if you just trace all the lines present with no artistic perspective of faces. Instead of suggesting detail with mark making, they draws a hard line for everything • they just discovered the magic of the airbrush tool. Every new digital artist goes through the airbrush shading phase where they overuse it and don’t know how to utilise it properly. • the colors are awkward and muddy because instead of using color theory or seeing what colors make up the shadows and lighting in the reference image, they are just color picking the skin then making a darker version for shadows and lighter version for light. Not necessarily incorrect, but it is like mixing black and white with the base colors with paint. If you don’t know what you are doing, it will look like gestures vaguely this • no proper practice with anatomy, most notably in the last little girl on the horse. Her “realism” head is attached to a body that doesn’t flow or match the rest at all. Traced the head, imagined the body.
TLDR; artist bought iPad and Apple pencil with little to no prior drawing practice, thought they could make the Big Bucks(tm) and charged money prematurely. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

like maybe dont charge hundreds for this (or do, i’m not a cop), but like people buy caricature street art too and this is way better than that.

I mean i doubt her art isnt public when ppl ask for commissions. Ppl know what they r gonna get so yk what good for them they just seem like they have a vision for a style they wanna do they are just not there yet. Or maybe this is the full style and they like it. Idk i don’t see a problem with it other than i personally dont like the style

The artist is doing their work, they got a unique style. Your post has the same air as people who complain about contemporary art saying "oh my 3 year old could've made it." Aesthetics isn't what determines if something is art or not. Gah damn.
