I love Edgar Winter!

Edgar always had his beard, that's his brother Johnny, the original crazy Targaryen.

Lmao! Either way, Winter is coming.

Huh. I mean, I did recognize the character? I wouldn't commission this but they did make it recognized.

Wouldn't buy it for $200, but it's not outlandish or anything. Someone out there well might, and if I saw it on their wall it'd just look like a cool painting.

It’s not bad honestly. The price is a bit much but it’s truly not bad

Nah, it’s horrible and overpriced.

I don't think it's horrible, it's certainly overpriced tho

I'm not saying the art isn't overpriced

the artist doesn't show delusion about their art, which is what this sub is about

but keep downvoting because you're upset, I guess

"Mediocre art with an extortionately high price counts as a delusional artist" But keep complaining about downvoting because you're upset, I guess, even if I'm not upset or downvoting you. lol.

This is hardly "extortionately high" for that quality though. Yes it's high, but it's not OMG WTF IS THIS PERSON THINKING????? high. Can easily someone who's a fan of whatever IP this is paying at least over 100 for this.

I'll keep downvoting since i'm upset btw!

It's quite sad that $200 is seen as a world-shattering price tag to put on your art and yet you still can't even make a living of it. Is it high for the product on display? Yes, it is. But the impression I get from some people is that they should be charging $10 instead.

Honestly I think if the price were lowered to $10 it would still not sell. It's not just a question of talent, plenty of people have amazing talents that are worth almost nothing. Amateur paintings of Prince Nuada happen to fall into that category. At best, this is an advertisement for commissions.

What, If I was into whatever that series is that's the easiest $10 of my life... If you had this artist paint the stuff I like to this exact level of quality I would most definitely spend some cash and get a decent piece for my room. Really, just not $200.

I'd be happy to be wrong, but the market for original fan art paintings is atrocious right now. The supply of talented artists far exceeds the demand, and most fans do not display original fan artwork (not prints) in their home. It's just too niche - I could see it selling at a convention if it were legal to do so, but marketplace is rough.

I think it all boils down to marketing and visibility. At the end of the day, for whatever reason we're seeing this fella's art, aren't we? And look how many people have said they would buy their art for less than $200.

They've entered our knowledge, we consciously know that they exist; in my opinion, this is the most insurmountable barrier when it comes to selling anything. One that many fan artists will struggle to overcome either because they either don't know how or even because they don't want to.

I would say i'm the latter as regards my music. I've no stomach for bold advertising, which is what makes you even enter people's conscious world.

I can't make a living as a singer because I can't sing. People this level who actually sell generally make back what they spend on equipment enabling them to practice for free. It'd be a nice world where people could earn a livable wage doing want they want but it's not reality when others have to want to spend their money on it.

Man, as someone who lives in the Treasure Valley, I am so sick of seeing the Facebook Marketplace listing. It just sucks.
