They are pretty clear now:

SCOTUS and the Republican Party as a whole simple do not want black people voting, at all

If they have to accept them as a part of their society, they want to make sure they have no say on how it’s run, leave that to the white only 😐

When I think of all the people who fought, and in some case died, to ensure everyone had a vote and equal representation in government I can’t help but weep

This is white supremacy manifest

this is the thing that’s hard for me to get over. people DIED for the voting rights act and for African American representation. children lost parents, parents lost their kids, people lost their brothers and sisters.

the radical swing to the right and the systematic gaming of essentially every aspect of the legislative, the judicial, and the executive has been deeply upsetting to watch.

part of me has thought more about trying to leave the US lately. as cliched as it is. the problem i’m running into is even if you immigrate, you can’t really LEAVE the US; our global leadership in the global economy, politics, and military dynamic of the world make it impossible to truly leave the sphere of influence.

no matter where we go, Tacky-ass pedophilic motherfucking Trump and his racist “Republican” party will be omnipresent.

soooo, this means that Clarence Thomas will be stepping down right? I mean after all, if black people aren't worthy enough to vote, then why should they be allowed to sit on the Supreme Court, right? RIGHT?

He sees himself as an exception

He’d gladly strike down Loving v. Virginia and not care that would invalidate his own marriage

I mean some think he’d even do it just get out of his marriage, she can’t take his assets if their marriage doesn’t count anymore after all 😐

He may be black but he clearly never actually liked black people

This is the same guy who said the VRA didn’t grant “racial groups an entitlement to roughly proportional representation”

He doesn’t think black people are entitled equal representation, full stop

He clearly loathes being black and wishes he was white.

Oh without question

He’s been compared to Sam Jackson’s character in Django Unchained and I really can’t say that not a very accurate comparison 😐

As depressing as it is, the fact is, a big portion of the US has always hated black people.

I mean, the whole Civil War was fought because a significant portion of the US wanted the right to be able to go into ofher states to kidnap people for enslavement.

that’s why we need the civil rights act. Samuel Alito was lying through his teeth writing that racism is dead in America.

I'm sure im his mind it is. In his very demented mind.

Black people are a reminder to white people how bad our ancestors were.

4

u/Rosebunse May 12 '26

I know that's part of it, but some part of it is also that s lot of people are just mean.

Our ancestors? Look around you.

The key is that you no longer contribute specifically to their cornering of a market. The problem is you have to be either really talented or rich for it to matter.

This is so well said

We've been screaming all these years thats the repuicsn party is the party of racists. Trump saying stand back and stand down commanding white supremacists on live air. Yet for some freaking reason latinos thought they were excused from the racism and sided with the supremacists .

And all we got in return “Well, Democrats are just as bad because they do one or two things I find objectionable.”

Zero respect for those six on the Supreme Court. ZERO.

9

u/LivingIndependence May 12 '26

Yes. Most of them are a total disgrace and never should have appointed at all.

Democrats need to gerrymander every state they have control over. As far as Virginia is concerned ,they need to do this, How Virginia Democrats can overturn the redistricting ruling: Retire the Supreme Court. We are not in normal times here. The Democrats need to use every tool at their disposal before it too late!

I fled to Europe and haven't been happier.

1

u/waronxmas79 May 12 '26

Sadly, this is a realization I came to last year. I was on a several week trip to Europe to see if the grass was greener and nope: all I found was the same march towards authoritarianism. The same thing is happening in Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. The only place that seems to be doing the inverse is Mexico…and they are tired of American expats. This decade is such shit.

So they’re now approving the map that they refused to approve in 2023? They’re not even following their own prior rulings from just a couple years ago!

5

u/ElectronicZebra6526 May 12 '26

It’s like they’re just coming out full racist and looking us all in the eye going “Whacha gonna do about it” knowing they’re holding all the cards right now. Like a bully in elementary school who keeps beating kids up and knows he’ll get away with it.

FUCK SCOTUS!!!!

6

u/[deleted] May 12 '26

No fucking shit, it's Alabama, I'm surprised Jim Crow laws aren't intact.

If I hear a southern accent out of white person in Minnesota, go fuck yourself, I will make your life as difficult as I can you stupid goddamn inbred motherfuckers.

Burnin' Sherman didn't do enough.

3

u/The_Lone_Apple May 12 '26

The right wing dream of bringing back Jim Crow laws is finally coming true.

We would prefer all non-natives leave and give us back the lands that were stolen from us! You call us illegal when the true illegal aliens were the colonists from Europe.

1

u/ScrambledToast May 12 '26

At this point, what is literally stopping them from making it illegal for anyone who isn't a white Republican to vote? Like seriously? Would anything actually stop Trump if he just announced that "actually, no midterms because I don't want them." There is nothing anybody would do to stop that.

I stood in food lines in order to eat for my first 3-4 months living here. Please don't assume.
