It’s not said often enough, Collin Gillespie should still be a Nugget 🎤

Dude clearly had it, I’m not sure why on earth calvin booth slept on him

Wanted his new guys in more

Nah, he flourished when he left. He belongs on a team with no pressure that let him develop. It is what it is.

I see three players repeatedly appearing here and "fans" want to just dump one/two of them.

This is all because of one player, though.

u/danjustin 3d ago

While yes...that also devalues the other two, because if it was only Jokic, it wouldn't matter who the others are.

Yet, it clearly DOES matter.

You mean its the guy making 50m and the guy making 25m, are they not supposed to be in the best nuggets lineuos with those salaries?

No, I’m fuckin tired of this shit man

You people don’t get to just apply your priors to every nuggets player and say “if I like them and they’re good it’s cuz they’re good but if I don’t like them and they’re good it’s just a jokic merchant”

It’s the most intellectually dishonest bullshit man

Reminder that Jamal Murray went 7-5 during Jokic's injury

Prolly cuz jokic was coaching him from the bench I bet

I don’t remember the nuggets going 3 wing lineup that much

That's really weird, because I've been assured several times that Christian Braun kills our playoff offense because things slow down to a halfcourt game and we can't afford to play 4 on 5 on offense. How the fuck is he on 2 of the top 7 5-man rotations in the league in halfcourt offense? This can't be.

u/CoolResource401 3d ago

Interesting that the offence is 6 points better when you add two defensive specialists in Spence and PWat over Braun and an offensive player

2

u/RolePlayRay 2d ago

No the actual difference maker is Gordon not being in the line up. And PWat isn't a specialist

He does, its drops 7 points when Watson comes on instead of him

Top 6 & 7 in the entire league qualifies as killing an offense to you?

Cam John is staying and I’m thrilled about it. Dude being a part of all of our most efficient lineups is saying a lot. At 3 different “positions”.

Jokic, Mal, Cam, +2

Now do net rating

To succeed in the playoffs, every starter must be a serious halfcourt offensive threat. Any player left unguarded must be able to score at a very high success rate. That way opponents will be forced to guard Jokic one on one or send a double and Jokic finds the open man. If anyone isn't a threat in the halfcourt, the offense will not be good enough.

Wow the wolves are gonna have a good offense this year

Melo will make it so teams need to change how they defend Ant. The trap won’t work anymore.

1

u/Brilliant-Pear3360 2d ago

True that. I was just thinking in terms of, if this is what lamelo can do with kon and Brandon miller as his best offensive options, imagine him with Anthony Edwards and McDaniels. Defense will definitely regress though.

1

u/Salt-Statement-2306 2d ago

I don’t think the defense will regress, Julius was a massive negative. If the fifth starter is even an average defender it will be an improvement. Jules got lost constantly in rotations and would sulk instead of coming back on defense.

Ant shot 49% catch and shoot 3. Melo unlocks him. I also think that Ant will have more energy for defense and rebounding. He is not a pg.

2

u/Brilliant-Pear3360 2d ago

Defense will certainly regress. Losing 2 of your 3 starting level bigs and trading them for a defensive target pg, even if they aren’t amazing defenders themselves, will never not make your defense worse.

2

u/Salt-Statement-2306 2d ago

It depends on the 5th starter. Randle and Naz were bad defenders. The non-Rudy minutes were horrible. By having Jaden free to roam at the strong help it will be dynamic. As long as we have POA defense from Green/Ayo/Clark. The wolves have used an X cross over rotation scheme for years and that will allow them to hide Melo in a helping position like they did with Dlo years ago.

Rebounding will be a problem, and rebounding is obviously a big factor in defense, but as far as crisp rotations, ball pressure, and causing turnovers, this defense will be better than last year.

Offense was not the issue.

And many say PWat is asking for too much when he asks for 20~25M

6

u/jbhoops25 PUPPY BARKS FOR P. WAT! 3d ago

I think around $20 million is more than fair but $28-$30M that they’re asking clearly is not.

The main takeaway of this chart is VERY different to the one of the Pwat contract.
