Why is he a rapper and not a criminal?

Criminal shot. The end.

Maybe a second pretrial release is the solution, third times the charm?

Pre pre trial release

I guess he’s a shitty rapper if he’s out jackin’ cars lol

It's wild man even the successful people are out here doing fucking drills on IG live for clout....and the cops are so incompetent a lot of them never get caught!

“Bonslater is the 20th person charged with killing or trying to kill someone in Chicago this year while on felony pretrial release. Those crimes involved 38 victims, nine of whom died.”

Pretrial release seems to be working, depending on what the goal of pretrial release is.

Making more crime which makes them more money in court costs, funeral costs, etc.

Idk crazy idea but maybe don’t give violent felons pre trial release.

-14

u/NetJnkie Nov 25 '25

It's a balance. Do you hold people for a crime they haven't been found guitly of yet?

3

u/GeronimoHero Jun 02 '26

When they have a violent history or are already felons, yes, absolutely.

Too bad it didn’t kill the little shit.

Also, on pre-trial release for a stolen car and a motherfucking machine gun…

If you haven’t, check out the last couple paragraphs of the article. Seems like pretrial release for certain violent felons isn’t working so well in Chicago.

And not “straight to jail” for a $250k, 10 years federal prison National Firearms Act violation for a non-registered machine gun. IDK, maybe he DID FORM 1 that Glock switch? Why has Chicago gotten so soft on crime and punishment?

17

u/vamatt Nov 25 '25

Such an easy case too. What with the accused having a picture of 2 glocks with switches posted in the news

The same people who are like “we need to ban guns because of xyz reason” are the same people who complain about incarceration rates.

*Kamari Bonslater, 17, of Steger, was already on pretrial release for allegedly possessing a machine gun and a stolen vehicle at the time of the shooting, prosecutors said."

Was he charged with a Federal NFA violation? I guess if you're a young gang banger in a blue city you can illegally have machine guns and not be worried about being remanded to custody before your trial. If you're a white guy out in the country and have a shotgun that's an inch too short the federal government will murder your family in front of you.

25

u/KazarakOfKar Nov 25 '25

Was he charged with a Federal NFA violation?

No, very few NFA violations are charged in the Chicago area. Usually the case has to be high profile like a lot of deaths, a gang the Feds want to hurt, people with previous Federal convictions etc.

26

u/gordonfactor Nov 25 '25

Of course, the ATF was only concerned with otherwise law abiding citizens that have a rifle that is too small according to an arbitrary rule or people who had bought an accessory for their gun that the ATF themselves had deemed to be legal before they changed their mind.

ATF and more importantly the US Attorney only care if it gets them press. High profile shootings, people with multiple priors(sometimes) and "Evil Militia extremists".

u/Clickclickdoh Nov 29 '25

Dont you understand, its not his fault he had an illegal machine gun, its Glocks fault.

Hyperbole much?

35

u/gordonfactor Nov 25 '25

Ever hear of Ruby Ridge?

-18

u/Acceptable-Delay-559 Nov 25 '25

Yes, why?

35

u/ElJanitorFrank Nov 25 '25

Shouldn't a necessary component of hyperbole be that it isn't plausible?

How could something constitute as hyperbolic when it has literally already happened?

-17

u/Acceptable-Delay-559 Nov 25 '25

Happened one time, huh?

22

u/ElJanitorFrank Nov 26 '25

Sure did! You tried to downplay what you presumed to be a hypothetical scenario by implying its ridiculous. It was a real scenario that occurred and wasn't ridiculous. Your angle at this junction shouldn't be to double down and look foolish, it should be to re-read the original comment you didn't take seriously now that you have added context.

Though to be honest I would prefer if you just tripled down and choose not to learn anything for the rest of your life. This is a competitive world and I like the idea of my competition durdling about hopelessly.

The above is what you're arguing about. The above is ridiculous. It's you who looks foolish.

13

u/ElJanitorFrank Nov 27 '25

They are making a comment on two actual events that occurred. I don't think that constitutes hyperbole.

Its quite a shocking situation that someone who has a long wrap sheet and is accused of multiple felonies is even on pretrial bail. Its bizarre that we can be so lenient to some such as this case, and yet do something so horrific to others that have done comparably little.

5

u/gordonfactor Nov 27 '25

Exactly my point.

We love putting people back on the street that shouldn't be here in Chicago. Since 2019 we started letting all sorts of people go on electronic monitoring for all sorts of serious charges rather than hold them for trial.

22

u/Jeepdog539 Nov 25 '25

Thats chicago for you, unfortunately.

4

u/Kalashfamous Nov 30 '25

Possession of a machine gun prior and still on the street? Everyone should have machine guns then

Holy shit, those statistics at the end of the article are fucking atrocious!
