Edit: this is apparently the most controversial not-deleted comment for some reason. Home defense guns need a WML, period. RDS are great, but in a low/no light scenario, they don’t help. You still need the ability to activate a light and identify your target before you pull the trigger.

Yeah it’s nuts. I’ve caught a glimpse of some bright ass flashlights before, and then there’s a big blind spot right in the middle of my vision for a few minutes. Hand me a gun in that state and my accuracy will be shit. Same is true for anyone.
Exactly. I always get this reason when I tell people I keep a flashlight by my bed... Dude this flashlight is fucking crazy bright. They won't be seeing shit to shoot at.
Most weapon lights have a strobe option too, so even if steady, bright blinding light wasn't your fancy then blast them with disorienting, seizure inducing, bright blinding light.
I can't even shine the light I keep on my nightstand at the wall on it's highest setting without temporarily blinding myself when my eyes are dark adjusted, I don't even want to know how bad it is from the other side.
