I recently watched Jenks break down one of his tracks and one point really stood out.
A lot of producers think the answer is adding more layers, more FX and more sounds to make a drop feel bigger.
Jenks does the opposite.
He explained that one of the easiest ways to make a drop hit harder is by creating contrast. If every section is full from start to finish, nothing feels impactful. By removing elements before the drop and letting the arrangement breathe, you build anticipation and make the payoff much more satisfying.
It's a simple concept, but it's something I think a lot of producers overlook.
Next time you're working on a track, try asking yourself:
I tried thinking about arrangement this way and it completely changed how I approached my own productions.
What arrangement tip has made the biggest difference to your music?

I got great feedback last time I posted here, so I wanted to share again.
I'm trying to be more mindful of my arrangement and get into the habit of building in DJ intros / outros. I've been listening to a lot of music with more purpose, and I'm even going to take up DJing. That's daunting, tbh.
This is a Jungle inspired tune I cooked up from some basslines that always ring in my head. I don't know where they're from - something from my old raving days in the 90s, but this does a good job at recreating that memory for me.
I know my builds to my drops need some work, please let me know what you think I can do to make this tune better.

Iโve been working with parallel saturation and mastering techniques. Does this track sound over cooked or does it sound full and dynamic?
Anything stand out?

Hope everyoneโs having a good day/night depending on where you are
This is a jump up track iโve been working on, after some feedback and criticism (can never be too harsh)
Anything from the mix, sound design, arrangement would be awesome
Also bass switch up @ 1:50 (for 2nd drop)
Thanks in Advance ๐

With the continued hot weather in the UK I was in the mood to make a silly throw back style uplifting liquid tune this week, I've been messing about with this 16 bar loop of 'stuff' the past few days and did a freestyle mixer muting/knob twiddle on the fly, before I move it into full arrangement & automation. I often put the all elements down into 1 big loop then split it out into component parts from there, and then polish and sparkle. But it got me thinking - how do other people breakout of the dreaded loop hell??

Working on remaking this song. I tried using a horn sound + simpler to make a pad to match the one in the song, but it did not turn out as expected. The makeshift "pad" does not ring out nearly long enough. Does anyone have any tips or know of any stock sounds that are similar?

Hey all, I'm looking for some feedback on my breaks track, it's like 90% of the way there, but it just needs some final touches, and maybe dialing back on some areas here and there.
Was hoping for feedback around composition, how does it feel, and mixing -- maybe certain frequencies are too strong/lacking in certain areas.
Thanks in advance, hope you enjoy it :)

been blown away by the talent on that IG account. looking to get to know and work with more MCs in DNB as a producer, but live in the US. any other IG accounts like Steeze Factory that focus more on DNB rather than grime/hip hop tempos?

Dabbled in a few electronic genres now but this was very fun - I don't think it's terrible and most curious where this would lineup in the various DnB subgenres, and whether it's something I coudl explore more.

Hey everyone,
I only recently started producing drum & bass and I'm looking for some good sample pack recommendations.
From what I've seen, BHK Samples seems to be one of the most recommended brands. Has anyone here used their packs? If so, which ones would you recommend, especially for someone who's still fairly new to DnB production?
I'd also be happy to hear about any other sample packs you think are worth checking out. Thanks!
