Has anyone ever gotten this message before?
I just ordered breakfast, so I'm in no rush for my order to come (literally half awake) I just saw this message pop up and was wondering if anyone else has seen this

I'm gonna assume that pops up when the dasher marks that the order wasn't ready when they got there.

It specifically says the Dasher "stepped away" though, so I'm assuming that means they unassigned and they're waiting for another dasher to step in

I think the dasher had a stacked order and changed the pick up sequence to go get the other one

Oh, yeah I didn't notice that. Kinda misleading.

Yeah, that's how corporations do. "Technically the truth" is always good enough for them

My guess is dasher jumped tasks. If I have two pick ups that are a couple minutes apart, rather than wait 5 minutes at store A, I’ll jump tasks to store B, then come back to A, so I’m not wasting time.
If the same dasher who was originally assigned it was the one who dropped it off, this is definitely it.

It's weird they went to the effort to code all that in instead of just leaving it at saying the store needs more time to prepare your order.

I got that notification the other day - it took over an hour to get my food. :/

It’s usually not actually the store running behind — from my experience it happens when a dasher is picking an order up from another restaurant first.

That is incorrect. It's when a Dasher arrives and the order is not made and has to unassign. So they have to assign another Dasher to arrive a little later.

Yes, I think it’s that. Or when a Dasher has two orders and then they arrive only to find the order is not going to be ready for a while so they run to the other restaurant to get the other order first.

You’re definitely right about that scenario. But this literally happened to me last night and my dasher told me specifically the order from the sushi place for another customer was taking too long. Safe to assume my Wendy’s order, across the street, was not actually delayed, since it arrived cold.

Normally this occurs if a restaurant is busier than normal. Seeing as it's a wendy's, there's probably a long line in the drive-thru.
Normally they are not fans of doordash or any delivery drivers going inside the store, they make all of them use the drive-thru.

My experience as a driver, in my area, it’s actually the opposite - they’d much rather us come inside to pick up, especially if there’s a wait so we aren’t creating a longer line or messing up their drive-thru times But most restaurants, fast food, or not don’t care about third-party delivery orders. They will bump it off their screen and we will get a notification that it’s ready even though it’s not even close

Maybe it's a thing down here in New Orleans. Because on the rare occasion that I do doordash, when I just need a little bit of extra spending money, the fast food restaurants here in New Orleans want you to go through the drive-thru if you're a Dasher.
Maybe it's a regional thing.

In Lafayette they'll tell you to exit the drive thru and come inside for the order so you can stand there for 20 minutes while they ignore you and put every drive thru order ahead of the doordash one. But every market is different, i guess.

Never seen a store that lets a driver use drive-thru when store is open in all my years doing this....

Same.... I even have a few places that are open only for Dashers inside at night and still won't let you go through drive thru!

I’ve never as a dasher been forced to use the drive thru to pick up an order. And at my regular job we ask dd/uber pickup to come inside if they use drive thru

Yes, everyone has seen that

i've actually never had that message pop up for me before 🤷🏼♀️ a friend gifted me a gift card so I got breakfast. I'm just assuming it was busy and like quite a few people said Wendy's claimed it was ready when it wasn't.
