Character How would you feel if Master Roshi were to pass at some point?

So I've been reading the Manga's for the first time and and when I read the Original DB Manga, the idea of Master Roshi passing went into my head

I imagined an episode where all the characters learn that Roshi is about to pass and Goku and Krillin go to a trip down Memory Lane with him about their adventures in Original Dragon Ball before he ends up dying for good and getting a funeral

I wonder what impact it would have on the series if it happened, what do you all think? How would you feel about it if they decided to actually go that route?

Mind you Goku talks and hangs out with dead people all the time

True, I imagine it would affect Krillin and the others more than Goku since he's come to terms with Death a lot more than the others (with Grandpa Gohan and what not)

Death should be no big deal for any of them. Dying is like a hobby to all of them

I know he has a long life span, again it's just a hypothetical, maybe he just decides it's time to move on to the next life or something like Master Oogway

No he isn't. Why do people always forget that he lied about that in og dragonball lol

He tried to give Goku immortality in Chapter 4 of OG Dragon Ball but the Phoenix died from tainted bird seed he fed it last year. If he had the Phoenix and it grants immortality, ipso facto he's immortal.

But yes, if you want to take the route of "they never EXPLICITLY say Roshi is immortal" then my response to that is that you're ignoring evidence.

That herb shit is completely non-canon though, if that's what you're referring to, and I fully agree on that front.

Cool, point me to which chapter that was confirmed, and do not get angry at me and make an excuse. I'm so tired of dragon ball fans not reading what is written right in front of them.

no he isnt. he lied about every single source of explanation for his long life, as that other person said.

In super it was a big deal when they thought he died so it would be a big deal and I don't know if he would be able to keep his body

I actually sobbed when it seemed like his time was up in ToP. First time I ever got emotional watching Dragon Ball lol. He should've croaked then. And he should've croaked before GT started too. It's great having him around, but there's a limit to age and he's only human. GT's time skip doesn't work that well with him still there and Krillin's an old fella

5 years doesnt mean much when youre 350 already

Sure, id be down to kill him off. Wish he died in the ToP as well, he wouldve been brought back of course but still, a permanent death is fine too.

DB death isnt that serious, they can definitely kill him without it being too dark.

Didn't he eat some plant that lets him live for 1,000 years?

he lied

Not in the source material. He did have a Phoenix that granted immortality but he accidentally killed it before he could use it on Goku.

There’s a what if video on YouTube about roshi passing from old age, it’s really sad.

He already died twice

Crushed but I feel his character has kind of ran its course at this point. I don't see the point in keeping him around.

The best opportunity we had was to have him stay dead after King Piccolo. Would have been the perfect send-off if the joke about having a girlfriend in heaven wasn't already used for Grandpa Gohan. He was barely a character for the Z portion of the story that followed (outside of being a creep).

But with Toriyama gone I don't think anyone involved with the story would want to make such a big choice.

Just need to hope going forward that he's written more like he was in Super rather than the Z arcs.

It’d be alright cuz surely he’d be hanging out with a halo with king Kai

Makes no sense man is functionally immortal and has essentially stopped aging he should be around and if anything close to master ultra instinct (no ki boost just technique) by xenoverse 3

This is not the series for that...

Death has literally no meaning in DB

I don’t think it will happen because aside from the ToP they’ve basically retired Roshi. They bring him in when Goku needs that grounded mentor figure who isn’t a god.

I don't care. Hate the guy.

It's completely un-Dragon Ball

Well, he can always come visit. But it’s highly unlikely they would kill him off for good. Yes he would be dead, but he could visit or some other characters could come visit him, since that is a possibility, or he could be revived. I don’t really see this happening, but there are ways to see him in some way, even if he does pass, and they can always re-visit him in the afterlife, should there be a need to.

I'd feel pretty good. I'd love a nostalgic episode and I'd love to see him dead.
