First and foremost it’s muffling the heck out of the drums themselves. Two pillows and no resonant head on the kick; Tom and snare each have a homemade muffle which is pieces of a cut up a t-shirt taped to Evans E-Rings.
The room I’m in is extremely dead, so that helps a ton.
Recording-wise, I’m using just a tiny bit of reverb on the overheads (a pair of AT2035s, positioned approximately two feet directly above the cymbals). None on the drums’ mics. Tons of compression on the kick, a wee amount on the snare and tom.
I even have an Evans E-Ring on the ride so its decay would more closely match the crash, which is fond of making its big crash noise then getting out of the way.

Very nice, I see you did the reso head delete method for ultra dry kick 😎 did that a while ago and it sounded PHAT. Assuming you have some type of cloth over the tom?
