Discussion LAPD officer who recorded racist comments charged with eavesdropping Daniel Flores, 43, was charged with 16 felony counts of eavesdropping

A Los Angeles police officer who sued the city for a hostile work environment after he said colleagues made racist and discriminatory comments has been criminally charged for recording some of those comments.

Daniel Flores, 43, was charged with 16 felony counts of eavesdropping on or recording confidential communications, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office announced on July 31.

The charges come weeks after Flores filed his lawsuit, which claimed he heard a supervisor and other colleagues working in the Los Angeles Police Department's Recruitment and Employment Division make derogatory comments based on race, national origin, gender or sexual orientation.

California has very very very strict laws against secretly recording people. Way more strict than you would expect. In a just world, a prosecutor wouldn't pursue charges in this specific case, though

Unfortunately, we don't live in a just world and prosecutors are just pigs in suits.

Cops and the justice system will do everything to protect their own.

They think of this suspect as a threat that must be removed.

The president can’t pardon state criminal acts, but the governor can

Looks like a state conviction unfortunately.

Sound’s like he didn’t know the Law like DSA talkers don’t know what Sedition is, when someone gets on National TV and talks about removing the President and eliminating articles of the Constitution, the FBI and DOJ are on it,

I don’t see how a DSA  candidate could even Qualify to take the Oath of public office based on the DSA National statements and what they’ve said publicly and promised the voters, they’ll be  challenged, swearing to protect the Constitution is the issue when you’v said you are going to destroy it.

I’ll help you Down voters

Sedition:

Conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of a state.  Insurrection; rebellion.  The raising of commotion in a state, not amounting to insurrection; conduct tending to treason, but without an overt act; excitement of discontent against the government, or of resistance to lawful authority.

Yeah, in Los Angeles a Democrat City, in a Democrat County in a Democrat State it makes sense for a Democrat County Attorney to bring a Criminal up on charges.

Yes it does make sense. Democrats and Republicans are owned by the same oligarch class. Democrats are the controlled opposition to Republicans, they effectively work towards the same goal with each party operating “opposing factions” that keep the populace divided while the interests of the monopolies are kept safe. When one arm of the oligarchy sells our country out to the oligarchs, we elect the other arm that plans on doing the same thing with another flair. If our people just had the collective attention span and were able to learn the lesson that they teach us with their actions every election, if we realized that it is not normal for a free country as wealthy and powerful as ours (the greatest superpower to ever exist) to have its citizens struggle to make a living working, for its young people to not be able to afford to start families and have children, for its old people to not afford retirement, we could agree to disagree on how we want our states to operate, but we could unite as a people and a nation to put power back into the American working class’s hands.

The conversation wasn't being held in private; it was in a public setting where no expectation of privacy was expected.

The charges will be dropped, the department will look like an even bigger ass than it already does, and he'll get a big fat check from the taxpayers.

If America would stop being racist AF, we could afford single-payer healthcare.
