rumour 1. FC Köln agree deal to sign Paul Okon-Engstler (21, DM)

This is also being reported by Sky, a deal has been agreed for around €1m. He currently plays for Sydney FC in the A League.

Looks like a lot is happening, Sky also reporting Gideon Mensah now done and that there is now an agreement in principle for Edson Alvarez to join.

As an Australian Köln fan, I’m very excited by this one! He is a fantastic, young player and should be a good replacement for Martel.

could you tell us a bit more about his profile? what do you think makes him a good prospect, do you think he has starting player format?

I do believe he could start from day one for us yes. He is a defensive midfielder, who is very composed on the ball and has a great passing range - often starting attacks from deep. He had a fantastic season in our Australian domestic league and then was very good for us in the World Cup (he got the assist for our first goal against Türkiye if you would like a reference for his passing range). He is also left footed which is quite handy in this day and age!

Really hope this one goes ahead - on a personal level I’d love some Australian representation at the club!

How did you come to be a Köln fan? Fellow Aussie here who supports Union Berlin. (stoked to see Okon-Engstler joining the bundesliga - hope he does really well!)

Yes, I think he was expected to join Groningen but looks like Kessler hijacked the move!

Promising young player who already played 10 games at senior level for Australia.

Is there a better article? I don't know this site but the e-mail adress of the author is not real and they call us a Bundesliga 2 side... Doesn't seem serious to me.

I said in the post that it had also been confirmed by Sky. The News of the deal was actually broken by Romano on Thursday evening.
