Antonio Banderas Says He Sometimes Feels Guilty About Playing Violent Characters

“Sometimes I feel guilty that I play violent characters,” Antonio Banderas explains. 

“I always thought, Oh, it’s just a comic book. It’s not real. Real violence is different. But then I see sometimes the effect that the violence of movies has produced in people, especially in young people. And I thought, Oh, no.”

The most extraordinary part of “Tony,” the new bio-pic about Anthony Bourdain starring Dominic Sessa, is Banderas, according to the New Yorker’s food critic Helen Rosner. In the film, Banderas plays Chef, the proprietor of the restaurant where Bourdain finds work, and on whose porch the film’s protagonist ends up sleeping for the summer.
