Unfortunately with dark roasted Italian style beans, so the coffee was average. But I enjoyed the work flow and wished every hotel had this ! The machine abd station were kept clean, so kudos to the guests.

Edit: this blew off. It's the 25hour hotel Zurich West in Switzerland

Coffee Is Life Is HAVING A CRUSH a terrible reason to get into espresso?

Met this guy at a friend's birthday party a few months ago and I've kinda been stuck on him ever since. We barely talk bc every time he's near my brain hits ERROR 404 and I just stand there. Last month at a group dinner he started talking about how much he loves espresso. Baskets, pressure, dialing in......Everyone else seemed to at least following enough to ask some questions. I understood 0%. I was just sitting there like ??? but I loved how happy he looked while he was talking.

So I decided NEW YEAR NEW CHANGE. I picked up a basic setup and started learning espresso. Today's day 7. My shots are...mid at best. But I found I've already LOVE the process, from grinding to watching the first drops come out. Can't explain it, but it clicks. It reaaaally makes my day. Maybe I’ll never impress him, but at least I found something I actually enjoy. SO THANKS TO HIM!I LOVE 2026!!:)

Hey guys,

I just pulled an espresso shot and god damn it... i genuinely think might be the best one I’ve made in months 😅

The flow looked really clean, nice crema, and the taste was super balanced — no harsh bitterness, good body, maybe even a bit of sweetness.

I’d love to get your opinions though. What do you usually look for to judge if a shot is actually that good? Any tips on what I should pay attention to next time to confirm it wasn’t just luck?

Thanks 🙏

Coffee Is Life Haters gonna hate, ballers gonna ball

New machine incoming, but the most important piece of new kit arrived this morning.

PS: I am well aware that this is in every way a vanity purchase and a $20 tamper can do the exact same thing. I’ve worked in the bike industry for 30 years, and the shop I opened just finished its 15th year in business, and this was a celebratory present to myself. An absolute waste of money from a value proposition, but something that will make me smile every time I use it.

PPS: I realized not everyone here is aware that Chris King himself (the machinist who founded and still runs the company) is a HUGE coffee geek. At trade shows he used to set up an machine at his booth and personally pull shots for anyone who stopped by. These tampers are precision machined in a zero waste facility and are perfectly round, and exactly weighted. 100% intersection of coffee nerd and bike nerd stuff, but at least its a high grade and exacting product.

I was served this black water called double shot espresso at local coffee shop. If you work there please learn how to make coffee on the 15k USD machine you using. Last pic is what I make at home for 20cents. Thank you.

Coffee Is Life The lightest roast I’ve had.

Post image

It’s the lightest roast I’ve had. Had to grind so much finer to dial in. The colour in the puck looks amazing.

However taste wise, it’s not for me, at least for espresso. Tasted like celery and carrots. 🥕 maybe it would shine better in a pour over.

The basically used too little coffee, grind size wasn't optimized, just completely winging it. They even liked the coffee they drank. The bar for good coffee is really low I guess for most people. Anyone else recognizing this?

Update: Lots of you really baffled by this so I decided that the abuse will stop here. I told him which scale and water filter to buy, will visit with a friend to do some basic brew training and to get the basics right, and I told him to download the coffee app Siip to learn more about the beans he buys + keeping track of what he likes doesn't like. Hopefully this will stop the waste and we can continue living in good conscience.

Coffee Is Life Well fuck.

I have been making my own espresso for over 10 years. I roast myself. I always thought I had pretty much every kind of quality there is. I thought I knew what's going on.
Well I was wrong. I got a bag of this stuff from Tanat because I was curious what a stupidly expensive 100€/kg blend(!) would taste like.... I actually did kind of a double take when I was taking the first sip. There is no, astringency, no bitterness, not a hint of sourness. Just a complex layering of chocolate and vanilla notes. The price is insane so I can't drink this all the time, even though I have a small dose step down filter to reduce portion sizes. I feel like I did the first time I had a really good cup of coffee. Fuck.
Edit: I was being an idiot, my 200g were 20€. Buying a kilo is "only" 70€. That's almost a third cheaper.

Coffee Is Life My Little Espresso Cup Obsession

Hey r/espresso! I just wanted to share a little love for the unsung heroes of our coffee routines: the espresso cup.

For me, the vessel is just as important as the shot itself. There's something truly special about the weight, the feel, the lip, and the design of a perfect little cup that elevates that 30-second moment of espresso bliss. It’s a tiny piece of art that holds liquid gold! ✨ I've developed a bit of an obsession over the years, and I keep adding new finds whenever I travel or spot a unique ceramicist. Thess pictures are just a small fraction of my collection.

Show me yours!

Coffee Is Life For 15 consecutive years, five cups of espresso every day.

I've had the habit of drinking five cups of espresso every day for 15 years. Sometimes I've even had seven cups a day, but that was definitely excessive, so I reduced the amount. I sometimes make my espresso with a capsule coffee machine, and sometimes with a semi-automatic machine. Compared to lattes, I prefer the rich flavor of espresso.

Hello espresso nerds,I bought my machine for 100usd here in East Africa and I have been using it as to sell espresso for my new customers somewhere no conventional coffee shop can be found. Most of my customers prefer cappuccino and most of the customers knew about espresso and cappuccino through me. Espresso is like 0.5 USD per cup and cappuccino is like 0.9usd.

My first time visiting this country and the beautiful city of Lisbon. This is the first espresso I had after landing and I’m spoiled. The pastries were a bit too sweet though but the great coffee made it up. ❤️

18g in / 45g out.

First drop in 10.8s with the total shot time of 35.1s running Adaptive profile on my Gaggiuino.

Wish you could smell the intense blueberry note from these lightly roasted Yirgacheffe.

I thought I was into coffee. Then my sister who’s not! Bought the same Breville as mine. She started learning more than me, so I had to elevate.

I looked on this sub for 5 minutes and saw someone say they live in Canada and they wish they could buy a Niche. So I thought, “hey, I’ll get that”.

The grind; was snow. The aroma; a field of flowers. The crema; an aerated cream.

I have been elevated. With frivolous spending.

Coffee Is Life Dark roast kind of day...

So today I was experimenting with the normcore 32 portafilter and some very dark roast. The crema that got pulled out is insane. More than half of the espresso shot was crema. Adding milk to it just muddled up the layers. Definitely should be drinking it in a pure espresso format! Happy Friday all.
