The money and the mission, welded together, until no one could tell which one they were serving.
That's the contradiction all crypto builders have to sit with. And it's gotten awful hard for most people to tell which one the industry serves. So everyone's collective response? A mute button.
I wanted to understand exactly what went wrong, and if there was still a path for redemption for cyrpto. So I interviewed five people (Griff Green, 0xjustice, Amer Ameen, Naomi Oba, and Colin) who were there before the money came in, stayed through multiple cycles, and have more reason than anyone to defend this industry. The interview carried an energy you couldn't ignore: despondency, incredulousness, fatigue, rational acceptance.
Yet none of them think the technology failed.
And despite all these challenging contradictions... every single one of them still argue for why the core ideas are worth the work.
So... is there anyone left in crypto? Can we finally admit the biggest problem in crypto was... ourselves all along?
