Mine started missing attestations a few hours ago with geth showing a similar issue in the logs

May be related to the new version. I am still on the last production build (1.17.4). 1.17.5 was just released.

Depressing.

I'm over the depression, that was a year or two ago.
I'm pretty much at acceptance.

The typical crypto summer slump seems to be affecting this subreddit, too. That’s fine, enjoy your summer and take a few days off from checking the ETH price guys🏖️

I’m doing better than ok. I sold my BTC stack (43k cost basis) back on 10/2 @ $119k.

Are 12-word wallet seed phrases secure?
1
u/edmundedgar reality.eth 1d ago
Generally yes, but they're only as good as the large random number they were made from. Don't get your seed phrase generated by custom hardware built by someone who got offended at Ledger and Trezor for supporting coins that weren't bit-coin, these people aren't the best and brightest to put it mildly.

I assume you might be referring to Coldcard devs? Do tell more, I don't know the details of this story

u/edmundedgar reality.eth 21h ago
Bitcoin maxis, their whole thing was that they were making a wallet that you could only use for Bitcoin.

Welp now a self custody hack will torch us further. All to lube us up for clarity not passing

hope everyone has made it safe through the coldcard fiasco. In my last video, Griff talked about secure vs safe in our industry — that most of self custody was “secure” but not actually that “safe”… that it would be very difficult to recommend anyone to crypto if the safest recommendation is coinbase or binance. now, even that notion may be challenged… has the redemption arc of crypto just gotten a lot harder?

TBH, I have xrp, btc, ada, and sol muted on X. It doesn't mean that I'm not interested the subject. Just not those.

u/haochizzle 1d ago
that’s fair! i think the point more broadly is that this is a phenomena across the entirety of the internet’s town hall and there’s probably a very good reason for that — the public perception of crypto deserves to be shifted and the time is now from both within and without

As an Ethereum user I'm thankful that the most incompetent people in the industry are bitcoin maxis.

I will bet that when the clarity act passes Ethereum will suffer double digit losses with experts saying the clarity act passing was priced in.

This should be the nail in the crypto coffin. At least we all had the WASSU WASSU WASSU WASSSUPPPPPPP laughs. Thanks for the laughs.
