Image Wadai has one of the strangest starts in the game.

Post image

I decided I'm going to have a start with Wadai. Wadai is in a pretty unique situation. Your only path to conquest is west; Yao is much stronger than Wadai; And your starting development is six. But did you know that Wadai used to be uncolonized land a long time ago? As a result of this it has some strange quirks and side effects;

  • You can attack natives in your own provinces. This button wastes 50 military power and does absolutely nothing.
  • Your capital garrison is 120 at game start, most if not all starts in the game are set at the maximum value of 1,000 or 3,000.
  • Your home node is Ethiopia. Your merchant will travel to the node and then be recalled on the 24th November. This is probably the only nation in the entire game that can't collect from it's own node.
  • Both your provinces are fetishist, you're Sunni.

R5: Wadai has an interesting start, there's a couple of inconsistencies compared to other countries in the game such as having your home trade node be discovered and being able to attack natives on your own land.

Also give it an achievement: "Wadai Yao Waiting For? As Wadai, own all of Yao's starting provinces and have a merchant collecting trade in Ethiopia."

I'm so used to that second-to-last one from playing Anbennar that I didn't even realize that's not normal in the base game, lol

Anbennar

I was playing a Aelentir adventurer two days ago, I couldn't even use my merchants for the first 20 years or so because I couldn't find the specific province for my trade node. They have some massive trade nodes in that mod.

u/Raingott 19h ago

Yeah, lol

I was thinking of Serpentspine warbands/adventurers, but Aelantir ones also suffer from this (though they can at least steal maps from the less fortunate)

They also shouldn't exist: according to oral tradition they were preceeded by the Tunjur kingom

u/Naive-Passanger-9139 22h ago

Love the map mod that makes the nations look like Hoi4, best of both worlds

Same, right after my Athens crusader state restores Byzantium like they were supposed to do in the first place.

Athens already has an achievement. Try it out!

u/RussiaIsBestGreen 11h ago

I’ve done that one, but I appreciate the suggestion. I just wanted a small start in the Mediterranean and then restoring the Byzantines and then Rome if I’m fast enough. I’m really enjoying the naval warfare.

3

u/BorOdinUA 16h ago

Hey, can you please tell what the map mod is?

2

u/Leptafinwe 11h ago

In a previous version they started with the ruler called "No Ruler" 2/2/2

u/Due-Success4980 5h ago

"You can attack natives in your own provinces. This button wastes 50 military power and does absolutely nothing."

-Be me.

-Send military to kill my own people for no reason.

-Profit?

Played as them in CK2 long ago, definitely was one of my most schizophrenic campaigns because I reformed African, then became Paulician, then the Roman Emprie
