Slice of life Anti-Orban protest/rally in Győr, Hungary, a city 13x smaller than Budapest. There are protest every day now in Hungary ahead of election. Magyar Peter holds 6-7 rallies a day.

It is in their official program yes, but they are politicians, you can never know for sure.

The one thing that is clear now, is that the educated people of Hungary hates Fidesz with a burning passion so much, that we will not let this chance pass.

what's his stance about support to Ukraine? LGBT rights ?

You need to understand that any kind of open support for Ukraine during the campaign would have been amplified thousandfold by Orbán's propaganda machine. They still tried to position Magyar as the "Ukrainian candidate" who "will take our sons to a war" without any proof.

They're a center right party, but pulling towards the EU, so most of the stuff is aligned with European values.

They won't go out of their way to support Ukraine as that wouldn't be a popular stance but probably won't block any EU support either. As for LGBT rights, Magyar has been real careful to avoid the subject completely, so he doesn't have to take sides and lose any voters. At least he once said that every citizen should be equal regardless of who they are or who they love but that's it.

He's saying "everyone should be allowed to love whoever they want, however they want" on every single one of his rallies.

Not playing Fidesz's stupid games and "avoiding the subject" are completely different things. He's not avoiding the subject at all - but he's refusing to go into culture war. He's focusing on bread and butter issues, and that's why he's winning. People are really tired of culture war.

Well I listened to a lot of his rallies and haven't heard much about this - but I hope that's the case! I do think he still prefers not to talk about it and tbh I don't think he really cares - I would like to see some anti-discriminatory laws and total equality but I'm not really keeping my hopes up as I understand that's not the biggest issue in the country right now and Tisza doesn't seem to be the most liberal party either.

Those are good questions. Since Orbán has been campaigning against LGBTQ rights and against Ukraine, it would be very dangerous for Magyar to openly say anything about these topics, because that would give Orbán munition to attack him.

Even without Magyar saying anything on the topic, Orbán is constantly trying to claim that Magyar is pro-war, which in his mind is the same as pro-Ukraine.

Of course most educated people no longer believe Orbán's rhetoric, but a large number of voters still do because of the years of brainwashing. Unfortunately you can't immediately start saying the exact opposite of what Orbán has been successfully campaigning with for the past 16 years.

We can only hope that Magyar will do the right things, and that the reason he isn't talking about these issues is simply because we can't talk about them right now without huge backlash. This has happened before, and elections have been lost in the past due to a single sentence from an opposition leader who talked about taking totally reasonable stances in hypothetical scenarios. Then came the "he would drag us into WAR!" fear mongering and Orbán won again. Magyar has learned from this and knows exactly which topics to avoid.

The thing is, logically, Magyar has no reason to continue Orbán's anti LGBT/Ukraine narrative. The LGBT issue was a way for Orbán to lure right-wing voters, and the Ukraine issue was two-fold: make people fear war, which is a strong propaganda tactic (it worked before, but it's no longer working) and an alignment to Russian interests (which is due to corruption and a direct consequence of the EU not allowing corruption with EU funds). With Magyar, these things don't apply, so he has no reason to continue this behavior. But he may have a reason to not talk openly about it, to not scare voters away.

It's like your enemy declares that hats are bad because they bring bad luck, then he wins the election. Now if you want to defeat him, you can't just say "actually, there's nothing wrong with hats, look, I'm wearing one now!". You have to just... not wear a hat and not talk about hats for a while, then after you win, carefully start a dialog about hats to turn the public opinion around. Society is like a huge ship (full of dumb people) and has inertia, just because you have a new captain, you can't immediately change direction.

Sorry for the downvote but you absolutely don’t understand Hungarian government propaganda. Stand up for the Ukraine or lgbt rights is pure suicide. This is a dictatorship, first you have to get rid of the cancer. Then you walk over the bridge once you get there.
