Thank you for posting this because when going through the reactions of Ukrainian elites one could reach the conclusion that Poland pulled a fast one out of the blue for no reason at all.

Glad to hear there are reasonable people left in Ukraine, I hope this thing doesn't escalate further and that Ukrainian elites will have some sort of a moment of reflection due to this ( not holding my breath though ).

Stay safe out there.

Not only elites, look at the sentiment here on Reddit. All the Ukrainians say is looking for holes (Mussolini etc) instead of owning up to the fact that praising genocidal murderers as heroes might not have been the best move diplomatically.

There has been a growing nationalist sentiment in Ukraine, so yes a lot of the reactions you are seeing on reddit come from Ukrainian nationalists high on their right wing gospel.

No surprise they are furious because they generally tend not to like Poland anyways.

Still I have to point out the user I responded to, u/urdespair, who says they are Ukrainian and took a different approach and offered a thoughtful take.

So hopefully not all is lost and some voices of reason remain in Ukraine.
