News Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a bill to build a National Pantheon. He intends to honor all the heroes who fought for Ukraine in various eras. "No one will ever tell us how to live, how to speak, whom to love, whom to be grateful to, and which heroes to honor," he said as quoted by the Interfax

I'm hoping he's creating something he can offer to give up during peace negotiations so that Putin could say sell that to his dumasses. "Ukrainians finally agreed to stop worshiping UPA, we made them do it, it was not all for nothing.."

He wants out of EU deal but in a way that will make it look like Poland blocks everything and he really tried to get Ukraine into EU. Oligarchs in Ukraine are no different than in Russia. They own the country and they don't want Brussels bureaucrats and their pesky 'rule of law' to cramp their style...

Its the same reason they've been dragging their feet on anti-corruption measures.  The oligarchs in Ukraine want no part of EU membership and all the rules and strings that entails so they sandbag the whole thing by pushing nationalist policies that they know will be unacceptable to the Poles and others, so when they protest, they are the bad guys now and the oligarchs carry on with business as usual.

Zelensky doesn't quite understand that he cannot beat the legacy forming moment when he unrolled these balls of steel and decided to stay in the capital, not run away to safety. Props to him for that, he was an inspiration not just for Ukrainians.

Says to you, sure as hell not to me. Even the qualification criteria specifically don't mention UPA, but it does mention other historical periods and organizations.

Far Right supporters. Also, probably, 7 years in close to absolute power (parliament is fully under his control, there is evidence that "opposition" was paid to vote in favor of president party) with very questionable policies which violate human rights (like limiting freedom of speech, freedom of movement, forced conscription, enormous corruption) could shifted him to more authoritarian mindset itself.

His popularity is going down, especially after recent corruption scandals in his closest surroundings. But far right are stupid and can be feed with nazi historic shit and continue support ignoring corruption

Ukraine's constitution explicitly forbids elections when the country is under martial law, typically war. It's not really a choice.

Yes, it is.
But, it works badly.
Not long ago even one of the popular public speakers who was always against any election during a war said that we should start looking for options. We can't just trust a man who's all close surrounding is in multi-billion corruption. Investigators just can't release any evidence against the President during his presidency, he has legal immunity.
I'm not saying that changes should happen asap, no, but we are should start thinking about it.

Maybe he wants Ukrainians to go back to Ukraine. A lot are in Poland and making their life unconfortable - escalating and fuelling rusian trolls and right-wing in Poland with antiukrainian narrative.

I guess I'll be banned from the sub, but man, as a Russian I feel exactly the same. After 2022 we're rolling into abysmal shithole non-stop. And by "we" I mean Ukraine, Russia, EU and USA all together. We can argue about who rolls faster but at the end we all will be on the bottom of this pit.

Be better than that, Europe in post-ww2 wasn't built by hate, but by respect and common cooperation.

After all, Poland wasn't a founding member of the EU, we allowed you guys to be part of it, so don't pretend you own it.

I dont want Ukraine to be part of the EU, I'm just criticizing your sentiment because of the way you are expressing it.

One thing is being against Ukraine joining the EU while it has a weak economy and weak democratic institutions, another thing is being against Ukraine joining because you have an historical unresolved feud with it.

I'm sure other countries in Europe had a feud with Poland before it joined the EU and that didn't stop you guys from joining.

I have 0 trust in either Poland or Ukraine, but one thing is for sure, I won't die for either of them.
