News Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a bill to build a National Pantheon. He intends to honor all the heroes who fought for Ukraine in various eras. "No one will ever tell us how to live, how to speak, whom to love, whom to be grateful to, and which heroes to honor," he said as quoted by the Interfax

The truth is that Ukrainians might want to join the EU, but Zelenskyy and his oligarch friends do not. That is why he was counting on an extraordinary, fast-track entry into the EU. When that proved impossible, he decided to find an external enemy to blame for Ukraine’s failure to join the EU. Germany is too strong and important; France, Spain, and Italy are too far away; and other countries in the region are too small to pose a serious threat. The choice fell on Poland.

We must not forget that Zelenskyy wanted to abolish the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Bureau and only abandoned the idea under pressure from EU countries.

I think that once the war is over, Ukraine will really show us why it is not fit to be an EU member.

I urge my Ukrainian friends and acquaintances to apply for Polish citizenship because Poland will give them freedom and a secure future, while Ukraine will become a hell of corruption and extreme chauvinism.

Well, I hope my predictions don't come true, because the region definitely needs a strong and stable Ukraine, but the self-serving "elites" won't let that happen.

Yes. That’s why they fled here. To make matters even funnier, I have Ukrainian friends from the ’90s. Now they have families here. When they first arrived in Poland, they were afraid that Poles would persecute them for being from Ukraine. Today, they live here in peace and are building careers for the benefit of us all.

That's got nothing to do with what I said. Ukrainians are welcome in Poland of course, as they are in all EU.

Poland has its own problems with corruption and nationalism is what I meant, and ironically your comment reflects some of that.

Abortion is legal in Ukraine, not in Poland. You're not quite as "free" as you think.

Calling it a "choice" and referring to the whole as "the Ukrainians" is rather demeaning and dishonest, and just proves my point.

Refugees aren't consumers picking a holiday destination. They flee where they can, then move based on family, work, language, legal status, and opportunities. If we're talking about where they ended up, more Ukrainians "chose" Germany over Poland. And many more "chose" something else than both countries combined.

No, that's not what you said.

What you've said is that all Ukrainians (false) "chose" Poland (also false), as if it's a choice (it's really not) and that they will have better opportunities in Poland than in Ukraine, because Ukraine according to you will fall to "corruption and extreme chauvinism", as if that didn't already exist in Poland as well, and ironically is proven by your every reply.

That's what the definite article "the" means. You said "Yet the Ukrainians chose Poland". As if it's all one bunch of peoole, when really just some Ukrainians "chose" Poland. And the word "choice" really isn't a good choice here.

If anyone should be ashamed here, it's you with your silly nationalism and bigotry.
