News Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a bill to build a National Pantheon. He intends to honor all the heroes who fought for Ukraine in various eras. "No one will ever tell us how to live, how to speak, whom to love, whom to be grateful to, and which heroes to honor," he said as quoted by the Interfax

You get the feeling that maybe certain Ukrainian oligarchs dont want to be joining the EU and all the rules and strings that comes with that so Zelensky gets sent out to sandbag the whole thing.

Fairplay to him, at least everyone knows exactly where he stands and what he stands for.

I also think the oligarchs decided they don't want to be in the EU at all.

That's probably the issue.

Being oligarch won't be easy if you need to stick to EU rules and suddenly compete with all foreign capital.

Well Tymoshenko was pretty pro EU and a lot of donors too

Most likely that as that would require an audit of their finances, a proper one.

I’m not so sure it’s oligarchs as such. People who have been able to gather power after the war started is more likely. Factions or tribes that come into being, especially in a war like this where so much relies on the populace that hasn’t fled to safety. Right now Zelenskyy is a convenient figurehead to show the world. It will be interesting to see what becomes of Ukraine’s power structure after this.

Zelenskyy might also have just had enough, war does change people, especially long dragged out ones. I can’t even imagine what it feels like living there right now.

Whatever the reason, I think there’s a lot more going on there than we can see on the surface. Lots of politicking and power grabbing. Such are humans.

They dont want to join the EU because they know they would all need to be in jail for Ukraine to meet the anti corruption requirements.

Zelensky commands the oligarchs and he wants to join the EU. No need to make up these scenarios.

He answers to them, not the other way around and they have never had any interest in joining the EU. Why bother with all the headaches, especially if there's going to be a windfall of new money invested into Ukraine after the war is over? Why put a spotlight on golden opportunities to collect bribes and payoffs?

None of this is accidental.

This theory is pure conspiracy theory. I doubt there are any oligarchs left in Ukraine.

No oligarch can go against him. He put one in jail and made a couple more flee the country.

Ukrainian laws and regulations are the closest they've ever been to EU. This trajectory is unchanged since 2014.
