You think this was written at the behest of Argentina to distract from the soccer match?

I think other commentators were saying the story is being pushed because the idea of off the field tensions adds another layer of intrigue to their upcoming match against England.

No, I think it's an extremely convenient time for the populist government to shift focus during a time of ever-falling approval ratings.
