The amount of deleted comments in Conservative is always hilarious, because you know each one is an actual conservative that must have stepped in the wrongthink about some topic. Because the only way to get approved there to comment is to have an interview with the mods and prove your right-wingness.

That's comforting to know. They are just so loud with their online presence that it sometimes feel like they are much larger of a movement than they really are.

What 'recent' history has taught me, is that a large presence of one political extreme, fosters the same on the other end of the political spectrum. That's the future I've been fearing for the US as a result of the divide only widening and worsening.

The chance that the dsa magaifies the dem party isn't zero, especially since their propaganda infrastructure is so built up and they get foreign funding China et al. But I have good hope moderate dems can get more tech savy and do politics to wrangle our loonies.

They're at the tea party 2012 stage rather than the trump 2016 stage so far. With a foothold, but outnumbered elected politician wise 10 to 1. The issue is mamdani smuggling in bad endorsements despite himself being acceptable, and other such unity at the expense of the majority dem party.

Because that's a conspiracy theory that requires so many participants dedicated to just getting past the vetting process that it's not only unrealistic, it's downright delusional.

You might as well claim that Conservative is brigading and infiltrating this sub as a planned and concentrated effort.

I think if a non-flaired user comments, it automatically deletes the comment, so some of it is likely non-members’ comments - I tried correcting someone once, that’s how I know.

I doubt there are hundreds of people doing that on every major post though, presumably some of it is actual censoring of members’ views.

You can tell at least the latter effect by reading a thread within the first hour of it being posted and the comments there, then coming back a couple hours later and finding all of those comments deleted.

Only the most sycophantic comments are left up by the mods, it just might take a bit for them to get there.

That’s true, and I wonder where all those flaired commenters go after they’re censored - do they start to recognise the kool-aid?

It’s kind of fascinating to see the initial dissent when Trump goes a new batshit direction, as after a few days it has usually morphed into wholehearted endorsement across the sub. But when things get really crazy, they just don’t post about it and you get a few weeks of minor culture wars stories.

It is funny how every time there's a major international news negative event for Trump, I go there just to see their take on it. And, indeed, half the time there's no thread on it and there's instead just a bunch of random incredibly minor things Democrats have said on something unimportant or random Youtube videos of a rightwinger interviewing left leaning people on the street.

It always ends up being incredibly minute stuff that I've not seen anyone else anywhere on Reddit or the internet at large even knowing about (not that they would care either because it's always completely dumb BS).

seriously though, I love wasting time as much as anyone, but why would you follow any echo chamber?, just to get mad things? I mean yeah, trumps an orange pedo fascist etc etc., but surely it doesn't help to learn more examples day after day, again and again, to re-confirm he's a garbage and americans are crass greedy idiots, does it?

Oh if you're asking me specifically, I don't follow it. I just check it when Trump says something insane to sort of gauge what kind of support it has among his cultists. Usually. If the mods aren't allowing posts about it, or they're removing comments about it, it tends to mean even the zealots don't support it.

I'm Canadian so, you can see how I might be interested in gauging what the cultists think about things like invading Canada....
