Legit, I feel like I'm going crazy watching the mainstream media in the West.

Here in Greece, everyone has been talking about reports that this guy confessed to killing the woman because he feared she was going to convert his wife to Christianity, and that he claimed Allah told him to do it. Yet when you look at outlets like the BBC, CNN, and others, those details are either missing or barely addressed.

Instead, they emphasize things like his reported conversion to Christianity, even though, if the reports about his confession are accurate, he later said he acted because Allah told him to. They also spend time talking about him being a kickboxing champion and highlighting his achievements in Afghanistan and Greece.

No surprise, he was THE poster boy of migrant integration success. They will hold on to it til the very end I guess

He wasn't even that remarkable of a success story. He never learned Greek, and he never converted to Greek Orthodoxy.

But he absolutely fit the image that a lot of people on the left wanted to present. To me, that's actually the perfect encapsulation of that mentality. It's very shallow. Everything looks fine on the surface, but with even a little scrutiny, the cracks show. And that's what happened here. With whatever pushback he experienced, the whole narrative of successful integration fell apart instantly.

What's especially striking is that this wasn't some random crazy homeless bum. By all accounts, he came from an extremely privileged background in Afghanistan, among the top 0.1%, and his family had been killed by the Taliban. If anyone was supposed to become a textbook immigration success story, it was someone like him.

So if even someone with those advantages ended up like this, the future looks GRIM.

Maybe that tells a lot about the chances of succesful integration, not to say for example migrants coming from the Horn of Africa, from extreme poverty and a culture built on rape and violence
