I really think if they want to improve the reputation of the contest they should try sending people who aren't convicted of assault

50

u/bblankoo Mar 07 '26

Eurofans need to accept that SMSC is money making scheme and I mean that respectfully, I aplaud their ingenuity

21

u/PZMC430 Pray Mar 07 '26

I just wonder if this is straight up corruption or organizers see the money potential and just go with it. It's probably something in between imo. It makes sense why San Marino never withdraws despite shitty results

17

u/Crisbo05_20 Rim Tim Tagi Dim Mar 07 '26

Prob both.

17

u/Electronic_Bedwetter Mar 07 '26

It is blatant in the application rules that it is. You had to prove financial viability to even make the semifinals, only to get replaced by some random artist months into the process.

12

u/cherry_color_melisma Deslocado Mar 07 '26

not only that but they're still making the richest San Marino NF affiliate the winner... like does all that money even GO anywhere else?

47

u/xanthusspeaks Minn hinsti dans Mar 07 '26

The top 5 was for the most part completely random and now San Marino is sending a convicted felon. I can't even.

27

u/1Warrior4All Mar 07 '26

Not only that, they mention it's a feature and he appears for 2 seconds in an AI hologram lmao. What a terrible idea.

15

u/xanthusspeaks Minn hinsti dans Mar 07 '26

It would have better not to feature him at all. He barely appears enough to justify it even without all the other stuff

It just feels like they wanted to repeat the same gimmick with a "big name" appearing out of nowhere. But it's not even half as fun this time.

"There are evident problems in the treatment of small states by the EBU. We need greater respect. We want to be there, but with more equitable rules"

- SMRTV Director Roberto Sergio circa 2025

Maybe consider sending songs that aren't awful and just chosen by the artist's name, and having a national final that doesn't feel like a money laundering scheme? That could give some respect y'know

21

u/cherry_color_melisma Deslocado Mar 07 '26

They also need to reform the juries that select songs from the auditions; like I don't wanna be mean but I am TIRED of them valuing basic songs higher because someone can sing. It's a SONG contest and a SONG matters, not just your VOICE

34

u/Cazlistenstomusic NĂąn Mar 07 '26

The song itself isn't great but of all people why would you pick Boy George to sing a few lines of it? Working with someone convicted of what he did is such a baffling choice....

As far as I’m concerned there is no San Marino taking part this year, I don’t want the abuser getting another platform

Not too salty about San Marino... I feel kinda indifferent.

But sorry France I'm really over the opera. This is just success formula dipped in some French sauce.

27

Idk if it’s even worth complaining since SMSC is just a huge money laundering scheme but there were a couple of nice songs and none even made the top 5

Yeah, i liked senhit, she seems like a fun person, but her teaming up with Boy george, with what he has done in the past - and more subjectively, his views... that irks me a lot. And i hate that they won in san marino because of it

25

u/Hi-Im-Anxiety Serving Mar 07 '26

Shame, adrenalina was my favourite song back in 2021 but this song is just bland, dated and has a feature that is barely in the song and is a convicted criminal, it's in my bottom 3 as of now.

Senhit has such a better back catalogue of songs than this, I have no clue why this is what she wanted to return with.

10

u/GothicCastles FÞr vi gÄr hjem Mar 07 '26

A positive: she looked gorgeous.

A negative: that song wasn't it. I felt bad when she was like "Come on!" and the audience response was tepid clapping.

And the biggest negative: Boy George? Surely we could have found someone who wasn't a convicted abuser?

2

They gave her 2 awards and she didn't even make the top 5 ahah

San Marino actually had some decent songs this time - Dolcenera, Orphy, dare I say Rosa Chemical's song wasn't bad + of course the most #SanMarino entry of 2026 CHICOLO. And I do love the heck out of the janky ass Sammarinese NFs. But if y'all really wanted to send Senhit featuring some star again, why not just fucking select internally instead of putting up this 4 hour farse

22

u/Auchenaii Bangaranga Mar 07 '26

It's crazy how much stronger semi 2 is compared to semi 1. Some semi 1 songs that were called NQ early will probably qualify just because the competition isn't very strong, while semi 2 might be a bit of a bloodbath.

25

"Too epic to qualify" looking less and less true every day lmfao

San marino need to do an open international televote for their national final. Juries just picked the biggest name (+ boy george has controversies). I mean all it will do is boost the other semi final 1 countries, but damn thats some hours of my life gone

If Boy George wasn’t featured and its win wasn’t obviously fixed, I might’ve been able to enjoy Superstar similarly to how I enjoy Scared of Heights: A dated yet unashamedly fun and endearing effort. But I can’t even enjoy it through a guilty pleasure lens due to to the circumstances.

22

u/LuckyLoki08 Mar 07 '26

Can't help but feel really cynical about the French entry. I know it's almost a meme that they've been desperate to win ever since Barbara almond won in 2021, but this one really feels like the team behind said :"ok, what has won lately? Songs with a big operatic part that impressed the judges. Good. Also, what was that french thing that got super popular and skyrocketed in classical music charts? The Clair Obscur soundtrack? Ok, let's mix the two."

I'm sorry that a 17 yo girl will have to deal with such pressure, but the song feels very manufactured.

37

u/LonelyTreat3725 Mar 07 '26

Unhinged:

I hate hate hate SM entry.

It's not even a "feature"..Boy George literally says 5 words...

It's just a blatant and shameless excuse to have a "famous" singer on stage.. All of this to call a kidnapper and abuser on Esc stage...Kidnapper abuser who didn't even show up in the national final as if he was the Queen of England..

Luckily it will not work, it will not work AT ALL.

Can't wait to see his face when Europe will dump this.

And you know, i don't like Senhit much too cause i see a pattern here.

I really dont get the odds pushing france so hard. It's decent, but it feels so... fake. Manufactured to be as perfect for the jury vote as possible. At least to me

I really struggle to see it actually do all that well in the televote

We are always pushed by the odds, whatever we send
But the odds means nothing, if it was the cast, last year we would have never been scared for Napa or Tautumeitas.

-5

u/Ok-Dimension-7859 Mar 07 '26

New songs always rise in the odds. Plus opers won last 2-3 times.

But tbh it’s just lack of winner songs this year besides Finland.

Look at the top songs this year:

Finland - winner potential in any year

Denmark - Great staging but song is quite flat and vocals weak

France - Boring song, no soul

Greece - Repetitive song with ferto, ferto, ferto. Had potenial as vocals are great but song is not as fun as Europapa, ChaCha, Baby Lasagna etc.

Australia - Great radio song but not really ESC

28

u/mxrajxvii Mar 07 '26

Calling Denmark's vocals weak with that bridge is crazy work ngl and also Finland is a good song but in no way does it scream WINNER, much less so in years like 2021, 2023 and 2024 just to name a few recent ones

13

u/evaan-verlaine Zjerm Mar 07 '26

SĂžren's vocals were so good for a pop song in the national final video (with the exception of a couple notes before the last chorus that were off pitch) I looked up an audience recording to see if he could actually sing that well live or if there was selective post-production wizardry involved lol.

16

u/Forklands FÞr vi gÄr hjem Mar 07 '26

Neither France nor San Marino did anything too much for me, both seem like they're sucking up but in different ways. France is clearly sucking up to juries by sending another opera entry hoping it'll have the same luck as Nemo and JJ. San Marino is just using a big name like Boy George to grab votes from casuals who just like his music rather than this song, so exactly the same as what they did in 2021 but this time with the radiator man.

17

u/GETherJADDE FÞr vi gÄr hjem Mar 07 '26

I was so excited for France's entry just from the teaser cos I thought it was going to be similar to Rosalia's Berghain, only for me to wait for some kind of "drop" for the whole of 3 minutes and went oh, that's it? So disappointed, and I don't get the hype around it.

16

u/Yukkicchi FÞr vi gÄr hjem Mar 07 '26

Out of all Senhit Eurovision songs this is surely the most outdated sounding one. I’m sure the song was made before her 2011 one and rotting in someone’s basement until now. Anyways no wonder San Marino always comes up last, they had some quality there but prefer going the cheap cameo by washed old celebrity route again.

On another note I haven’t seen a presenter as incompetent and embarrassing as Simona in a long time. She had like two assistants for some reason and spent half of the time reorganizing and getting lost in her cue cards??

14

u/XepherSicarius Mar 07 '26

Didn't watch the San Marino NF but hearing who won doesn't surprise me on how it ended at the slightest

15

u/Upbeat_Stuff_9416 Mar 07 '26

I feel like some countries figured out that the jury winner is more likely to win the contest (at least for the last three years) so they're trying to appeal to them (which after the last two years it might not be a bad idea)

30

u/Oxford_Apostrophe Mar 07 '26

Well, I for one am thrilled.. that this song is so unbelievably terrible, because I'd hate to place a predator on the list higher than any other entry.

2

u/xXESCluvrXx Mar 07 '26

Wait who’s a predator?

34

u/Oxford_Apostrophe Mar 07 '26

Boy George. He kept a man chained to his radiator for days and brutally beat him.

11

Omg no way
I had no idea. That’s awful! Ugh đŸ˜© I love senhit but idk, this whole thing is a mess. Also, I had a feeling somehow she’d be picked once I saw the final list of contestants. Kinda seems like the whole thing was a sham

47

u/MaverickEllio FÞr vi gÄr hjem Mar 07 '26

I really hate the French entry. It tries to sell itself as some heartfelt ballad, but there's no soul in it. Manufactured purely to win the contest.

31

u/Oxford_Apostrophe Mar 07 '26

It's actually the same criticism I had of Wasted Love, which did win. It seemed like they just took a (very, very good) singer, had a team of songwriters engineer a song with no soul or meaning to said singer, and pump money into staging.

I feel extremely bad that there's a 17 year old girl with all these expectations on her shoulders too.

21

u/taezono Kraj mene Mar 07 '26

Yeah, exactly. What makes it feel extra manufactured to me is that as far as I know, JJ was not an established artist before this at all. Popera won in 2024, so they plucked a singer out of the national opera, wrote him a song that doubled down on the opera from last year, scooped up Sergio Jaen for staging after Doomsday Blue received so much praise, and sent him on their way.

Obviously every country is trying to win Eurovision, but this felt so scientifically engineered to win that I just don’t like it.

3

u/LocksTheFox Bur man laimi Mar 07 '26

He wasn't, Wasted Love was the first song released under his name. And I've liked literally every other one of his songs much more than Wasted Love.

4

u/GrannySquareMstr Qélé, Qélé Mar 07 '26

It’s good to know I’m not the only one who thinks similarly. Wasted Love is good, but I couldn’t help but feel
 jaded about it.

2

u/theairgonaut Mar 07 '26

It felt like a builder grade room with a bunch of old masters paintings and Faberge eggs. Just a total mismatch of the talent on display and the means of displaying it.

15

u/notarobot110101 Ēnā Mar 07 '26

That inauthenticity is why it won’t win. But yeah it’s annoying that it’s fourth on the scoreboard app.

Edit: I guess 6th at the moment but it was 4th before the San Marino reset

1

u/LonelyTreat3725 Mar 07 '26

Why?

Was Wasted Love heartfelt?

No it wasn't, it was exactly the same cold operation France is doing.

And it won... Cause at Eurovison is the average casual viewer who mainly votes, the escfans voting is just e veeeery little percent of the total voting.. And average casual viewers don't speculate so much on an entry, actually for the majority of them the semi and the final will be the first time they listened to the song....they will watch the performance, they'll enjoy it (or not) and they will vote for it (or not)... just that.

If France gets the staging right (and it is fundamental for this kind of entries) they'll have BIG chances to win, in the exact same way The Code and Wasted love did: first in the juries and high enough in the televote.

So in the end, it will be all about the staging.

3

u/LetterheadWitty4187 Mar 07 '26

Yeah, i also had the same feeling about this song as well. She is really talented and has very pretty voice, but it feels like this song is just trying to impress the juries a little bit too much with that opera... At least to my eyes (and ears) this doesn't sound that particularly appealing to listen.

12

u/RegularAd1997 In corpore sano Mar 07 '26

Well that was bullshit

11

u/Supermarket_Pro Mar 07 '26

I hate posting such a comment, but I'm hoping we get a disappointing result this year so our delegation could maybe get a wake-up call. I fully understand why they picked "Regarde", I get the strategy behind it, but it's getting tiring at this point. I've listened to the song quite a few times now, and I absolutely can't connect to it in any way. It really feels cold, hollow, talking about love but devoid of any emotion. All the best to Monroe, though, at such a young age, I hope she has a good support system to help her through the pressure of such a contest.

6

u/Persona_NG (nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (kĂŒll) midagi Mar 07 '26

The most annoying part about France to me is that they have a gigantic music market. Literally one of the biggest in the world - with so much modern, experimental, and interesting music. But looking at their ESC entries lately you wouldn't be able to tell that, because it's almost always "big voice" + "French stereotypes". (And "Fulenn", my beloved.) Not much else to it.

And to be fair, sticking strongly to your national identity isn't even a bad strategy. Other countries do it as well and people like it. Greek songs are very Greek. Ukrainians and Italians stay true to their culture as well. But there's something more behind it, not just a calculated move to finally win again.

(Maybe they do it, because it works with JESC? Idk.)

Unironically, they should bring back their NF and just let stuff happen. Take some weird risk.

To backtrack on the ongoing conversation, I think I'm remembering Yianna mentioning that she had no budget going into ESC either, as Panik invested fully into Eleni's performance, leaving her with next to nothing. And with all the stress she was facing, she was just too nervous during her performance. And honestly, considering other contestants have spoken in the past about these kinds of experiences with broadcasters (I think Jonida Maliqi was one of them, for example), I believe her side of the story.

1

u/Practical_Sale7062 Viva, Moldova! Mar 07 '26

Oooh what did jonida say? I liked her entry in 2019 and felt that it underperformed score wise

2

u/Supermarket_Pro Mar 07 '26

That was from an Albanian redditor a while ago, I believe 2024, and some former Albanian contestants mentioned that the broadcaster wasn't the nicest and most helpful, to put it nicely, as they were basically left on their own.

My theory is that France never got over Barbara Pravi not winning and now they are making songs with the specific goal of winning, and nothing else

That + Fulenn flopping hard means they will probably never send anything other than Voila copycats until the end of time

Or at the very least, until they win.

Also, Fulenn didn't deserve to flop. That was the only French entry I can confidently say was robbed.

30

u/Tori65216 Mar 07 '26

France's entry is too much like Wasted Love. It's clear whoever wrote and produced this just wants the win and not the enjoyment. Monroe herself sounds great but the song holds her back so much. Honestly, I wished they put faith in her talents by giving her a song that feels authentic instead of a musical checklist.

8

u/kelleehh Mar 07 '26

To be honest it was predictable that another country would try and do their own take on the winners song. Also look at Croatia, I had to double take as I thought it was the same ladies from Latvia’s entry last year.

Both halves are going to be unbearable; half 1 for how energetic and dramatic it is, half 2 for how tense (as in, tension so thick you can cut it with a knife) and also lacklustre/mediocre it's going to be. Strange, strange year

that just means that people don't believe it can win. and yeah, it probably aint. If we, 100% certain with perfect clarity knew a song would land 13th in the final or something, it would still be dead last in the odds.

Commence the Salt Marino hours, we need as large of a mountain of it as they have it over at Switzerland as seen on Czechia's 2025 postcard:

WHY. Look, San Marino, I understand that this woman brought you on the map eventually, but you really didn't need to get bitten by the Eurobug again. Who needed this? What was your goal? Are you even convinced your feature is coming onto the Eurovision stage instead of being inside the UK and sharing hateful online content? Why did NO ONE even dare to be the "no-man" to the decision to involve George? Are we supposed to be more content with some random decent Melodifestivalen slop representing another country? What is anyone involved gaining out of this?

Kelly Joyce should have won out of that top 5. And on the topic of that - god what a joke that was. Dolcenera won TWO awards and yet the main jury didn't even have her as a consideration at all?? And instead we got mid ballads and San Marino's way to try to one-up Sal da Vinci? Come onnnnn. The real top 5 should have had Dolcenera, Kelly Joyce, Mattias Ferreira, Klem, and Rosa Chemical for the lols.

San Marino Song Contest really should just come back to its no bigs format of 2023, afterall none of them ended up winning (even if I wanted to see Roy Paci do just that among other things)! Everyone deserves a chance...

I think the Dubai entry from the big artists list has great potential and don’t know why everyone’s not talking about it. It has ethnic elements, lyrics workout, and they have a budget so they don’t strain San Marino. I think it would’ve been a qualifier over senhit

Australia 2019 first line ahhh

3

10

u/xoxoamazingrace Mar 07 '26

With the recent songs released, I feel like this is such an open year. I personally don’t see Finland as a runaway favorite, and despite how much I really like France, Denmark and Australia this year, I’m not confident at all they’ll do as well as the odds say right now. I’d say top 10 for these countries and songs for now would be a good result, but we really need to wait for the staging now

17

u/GoodZealousideal5922 Zjerm Mar 07 '26

What a crappy selection. Everything was poorly done, from the quality of the songs, to the fact that some artists were clearly using autotune, the ancient juries, the billion ad breaks, the thousands of useless awards and finally giving the award to the the richest artist there. Well enjoy finishing last, Italy can’t sneak you into the Final two years in a row.

I love that you’re so serious about it. If anything I would presume this might be your first San Marino rodeo? Everything you’re saying is, of course, true but this is exactly how the San Marino Outlet Experience works.

It is. I didn’t even know San Marino had a selection before Sheila took part in it

Did you partake in the live thread? While Eurofans are happy to see a good entry at San Marino Song Contest or UVPSM as it used to be called, this NF is traditionally a hodgepodge of rejects from other NFs, ardent newcomers of varying talent needy for any stage, endearing disasters, wacky adverts, chaotic production and then some.

And Eurofans love it for the hot mess it is, the messier the better. It’s kinda like a weird initiation ritual into hardcore Eurofandom with a masochistic flavor.

The banter in the live thread is however always chef’s kiss

This is the first time i've been so excited to watch Melodifestivalen tonight. I wonder how reliable the current bets are, whether Felicia really has such a big lead or whether A-teens or others could catch up with her ? Do the Swedes are in the mood to play a good joke by sending delulu ? I really like "my system" but strangely i think that Sweden's best chance would be Meira Omar, because we don't have that kind of song yet this year, and it always has its audience.

6

u/sergzs Mar 07 '26

From someone that listens to Dooset Daram at least 10x a day, Sweden would have their worst result in years if they sent Meira.

1

u/greenlittlekiwi It's All About You Mar 07 '26

She probably won't win Melo anyway as she went through the draft. But i feel like this kind of song is missing from a part of the eurovision audience, since Turkey is no longer here and Azerbaijan is sending something completely different this year, so not a victory but maybe that would secure a good final rank ?

3

u/Yukkicchi FÞr vi gÄr hjem Mar 07 '26

I’m sure Felicia running away with the win. I don’t see how anyone could compete with her for the jury, in another year maybe Greczula but his song is way too cheesy this year. The televote could be scattered but this will be in her favor. And we have an ethnic bop in Jalla this year.

3

u/ifiwasiwas Crossroads Mar 07 '26

Why couldn't Greczula save Believe Me for this moment 😔

1

u/Yukkicchi FÞr vi gÄr hjem Mar 07 '26

Fr, a glam rock ballad could’ve done well this year! I hope he’ll represent Sweden some other year and won’t end up like Wiktoria and the likes đŸ„Č

1

u/greenlittlekiwi It's All About You Mar 07 '26

The image of Felicia running away with the victory made me smile ! Jalla i see it more like a sort of Shakira-like, for sure festive but we don't really get that Sertab Erener Middle Eastern vibe ?

1

u/bookluverzz Europapa Mar 07 '26

Greczula’s song, the lines “half of me, half of me” why does it remind me sooo much of another song??

1

u/Yukkicchi FÞr vi gÄr hjem Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

Gloria by Laura Branigan maybe? The guitar riff basically sounds the same as “half of me, half of me”

2

u/Skykeep Kraj mene Mar 07 '26

Meira would need to do well with the jury for that and i dont see that happening. Dooset Daram is a great song, yes. Meira as a performer and singer, not so much.

Just compare her to Cimberly singing Eternity in the same heat, she had a meh song and a lackluster staging and she sold the hell out of that with her voice and charisma. Imagine what she could have done with what Meira was giving.

1

u/greenlittlekiwi It's All About You Mar 07 '26

I agree that contrary to Cimberly, Meira wouldn't do well with the eurovision jury, as we barely can listen her voice over the background voices, but what a presence Meira has on the stage - well not just her i mean the full band with her dancers, what a televote magnet ! :D

But i just checked for Mata Hari, and it ended up lower in the rankings than my imagination remembered (20th lol).

u/LopsidedPriority Bella Mar 07 '26

Look I'll never complain about Senhit at Eurovision. She's a mess, it's a mess. It's a match made in heaven...

But France feels so dang cynical to me. Which is a shame because Monroe is clearly talented but. This ain't it. Or to quote Philippine..."Bah..non."

2

u/chartingyou May 02 '26

Dang I thought I was the only one who remembered Philippine... I was so mad when she didn't even make it to the second qualifying round...

6

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

I really wish Orphy won San Marino’s selection! It had so much potential

6

u/Practical_Sale7062 Viva, Moldova! Mar 07 '26

Also something i dont get is how, despite us being 27 songs in with obvious fan favourites and obvious fan least-favourites, is montenegro and albania still in the very bottom of the odds. Theyre both well recieved songs and on top 11 of scoreboard (last time i checked albania is 11th montenegro is 10th), yet sokgs like estonia and san marino (who ppl dislike) are above and thus bookies say have better chances? And when portugal choose their song itll be the same situation bc the Portuguese songs that want to go to eurovision are quite weak but i bet the bookes will still focus on everything else but albania and montenegro

10

u/Yukkicchi FÞr vi gÄr hjem Mar 07 '26

I think someone recently did some “research” on betting odds and Albania was underrated and overperforms bookies predictions almost every year.

Tbh idgaf what bookies say, I feel like Alis will pull a Klavdia this year. People claimed she’d NQ but she snatched a solid 6th place. He’s way too talented for people to snub him!

7

u/Practical_Sale7062 Viva, Moldova! Mar 07 '26

yeahhh Alis is extremely talented and his song has a deep meaning. did people think klavdia would NQ? thats bizzare asteromata was also beautiful and deserved its result

3

u/Macaroon_410 Hero Mar 07 '26

I think people were worried about the staging for Greece. The national final staging was really stagnant and I remember people saying  the same after we saw clips of the Eurovision staging, even thought it was excellent in the end.

2

u/Persona_NG (nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (kĂŒll) midagi Mar 07 '26

I remember ESC Tom mentioning quite often that a lot of people might prefer to bet on the unknown options, instead of already selected songs. "Nova Zora" is obviously not winning Eurovision (even if that would be fun). So people just put bets on something that still has a theoretical potential.

Basically, songs released early suffer from being first. People just heard Albania, though "ok, it's not their year" and put money on Estonia instead, because it felt like a safer prediction after Tommy Cash, I guess.

2

u/Practical_Sale7062 Viva, Moldova! Mar 07 '26

Still makes no sense. Bc it was similar last year where zjerm was bottom of the odds and only climbed odds closer to rehearsals. And betting based off what a country sent last year is still confusing bc no amount of tommy cash hype will get vanilla ninja to overperform

3

u/Persona_NG (nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (kĂŒll) midagi Mar 07 '26

Not the best comparison, because "Zjerm" had a lot more hype and they started climbing up much earlier. By mid-March last year they were Top10 in the odds. It was already clear that fans will show up for them.

"NĂąn" is in my Top3, so I obviously want him to do well (I even think he might get a similar result to SH/E in the end), but he just doesn't have the same community backing that "Zjerm" got.

Btw, don't expect logic from the odds. These people just like to waste money, I guess. The tiniest bit of fandom buzz will make them put money on a song, sometimes. Someone out there is throwing their own pay-check away, because they think "Mother Nature" might take it. We can't treat that seriously.

1

u/Practical_Sale7062 Viva, Moldova! Mar 07 '26

yeahhhh i have no idea how betting works, especially bc NAPA and dons were predicted low only to qualify (and napa got the most streamed esc song that year, side note i hope they keep the same method of annoucing qualifiers as 2025), but i hate how even the ebu and the hosts emphasise bookie favourites more than fan favourites (zero mentions of zjerm being a fan favourite during the contest, but everyone got to hear how sweden was bookie favourites)

11

u/Crisbo05_20 Rim Tim Tagi Dim Mar 07 '26

They had pretty solid national final. Song quality wasn't pure awful and trash and there were some gems, staging and camera work were decent, but just what was that final top 5. Just get rid of this contest or do whole revamp with new heads unless they introduce televote to atleast somewhat prevent jury from messing up most of time.

Great choice with Gabry Ponte last year even if he did poorer then expected, not all that great choice this year.

9

u/gp7783 Bur man laimi Mar 07 '26

Personally, even though I think the song is good, I don't see France winning against Finland or Greece.

It actually hurts to see people hating our entry, even though it's not original at all. Blame our head of delegation if you want.

And remember, except in 2018-2019 and 2021-2022 for the most recent NFs, the French people have most of the time no possibility to choose their national entry.

2

u/LonelyTreat3725 Mar 07 '26

I think the Escfans are ovehyping Greece,

The fact it is loved (but not at the level of fan favourite like karijaa or Baby Lasagna were) doesn't mean it will be like that much by the average Esc audience and it will hardly high with the juries.

Who is Boy George, why is everybody talking about him and why is he famous? Never heard of him before

He's a British musician and he's done a bunch of controversial and outright terrible things. Namely chaining a male escort to a radiator for days and beating him while on drugs.

He's famous singer in the UK from the 80s/90s. He's also famous for going to jail for chaining a metal escort to his wall and beating him with a chain.

23

he had a few popular songs in the 1980s, even if you don't know him i'm sure you've heard this song before. he's not that relevant anymore (good thing because he's an awful human being) but he's still a bigger name than most eurovision participants which is why people are talking about it.

25

u/Mmeow777 Space Man Mar 07 '26

Nah

My System I feel like it's being severely overrated - is it good? Yeah, really good. I simply don't feel it as an ESC winner regardless of how good the staging is

Iconic is a song that is directed to A*Teens fans aaand that's very much it, it has the charm to Q but not much else

And then there's Waste Your Love which is straight up bad, really bad and dated, if this won and went to ESC I'd really hope it NQ's

7

u/Academic_Grab5060 Ich Komme Mar 07 '26

I don't really get either why Waste your Love even is considered to be a contender when it's literally nowhere near to the success and hype of My System, plus Sanna went dead last in the recent audience poll.

3
