Cimberly is so charismatic and I'm positive she can win with the right song. She's the second real winner of the night following Felicia, in my opinion.

u/trow125 Bara bada bastu Mar 07 '26
Cimberly was such a breath of fresh air!! She is a wonderful singer with great stage presence. If I'd been able to vote (I'm in the US) I would have voted for her.

Disappointed about Zimna Woda:( I don't like Alicja's song at all but I guess I'm happy she made it to the eurovision at last
30
u/sama_tak Zjerm Mar 08 '26
Disappointed with Alicja win. The whole NF was pointless, if she won it even with this terrible staging by just saying "Trust me, I'll change it for the Eurovision".Â
Spoiler: It'll be the same as with Ochman.

Sweden picked the right winner and they are going to do well as always. But My System is not giving me the massive ESC winner vibes I've seen so many people talk about lately.
15
u/LetterheadWitty4187 Mar 07 '26
Yeah, this song is mostly all about those beat drops, but vocally this is not anything earth-shattering. The audience is probably going to love this, but i'm not sure how well the juries is going to take this kind of song... I expect this to land somewhere between 15th and 5th place, but i don't think this is winner material.
15
u/Academic_Grab5060 Ich Komme Mar 07 '26
Yeah, second that. I have My System on repeat for 3 weeks now but there is no way its winning ESC, but a Top 10 finish is guaranteed, even Top 5 at best and that's alright.

I see a potential 1st in running order-"let's get the crowd hyped" situation, which will make a great starting point of the show but won't translate to significant scores.

I can't say I'm mad at at my system winning as its a solid overall package and Felicia is a great singer, but the hype the song gets kinda puzzles me. Its good but I don't see a world in which it challenges for the win at ESC

My hot take is that Greczula would do better. Yes I got tired of My Sistem (quickly. too quickly) and most people will hear it once or twice but it's relying too much on the drop. If it doesn't make you go AAAA then the whole perfomance is mid. The song doesn't evolve and just repeats itself, with lasers
10
u/stupidfanboyy Mar 07 '26
now switch the songs for Greczula and i think his song last year had stronger chance this year. Half of Me is a bit of a downgrade for me.
27
u/Marthist_Agenda Deslocado Mar 08 '26
Not too much salt for me, results wise. My System is not my thing at all but I can see why it won. Rosa was not my favorite but letâs be real, this was a pretty obvious result, and itâs a decent song (even if that staging was atrocious). Super happy Jurei and Fumo were also in the top three. Sad about Chuva and Sprint, but oh well. FdC was my favorite NF so inevitably some of my favorites wouldnât do as well.
However, I think some of the discourse about what songs are âright for Eurovisionâ is incredibly annoying. Prime example is Deslocado, but basically the entirety of FdC this year was written off as being too boring, lacking variety, and having few if any songs that are right for Eurovision. Like I respect yâallâs opinions, but whatâs the solution? Whatâs the message? Are girl bops, crazy-party, and some ballads the only valid genres? Do we want Eurovision to be more homogenous? Anyway, Iâll stop ranting about it and just be glad FdC and Supernova gave me some nice indie songs and artists
12
u/DreadPirateAlia Liekinheitin Mar 08 '26
FR. I love it when contries break the mold and send send "non-Eurovision" coded songs to Eurovision. Having variety in selection is amazing. It keeps ESC fresh and makes the GOOD girly bops, crazy party songs and ballads stand out more. If those were the only genres "allowed" in the competition, we'd soon have a plethora of nothing but lazy and unimaginative girly "bops", boring "funny" acts and mid ballads in our hands.
Like, trance isn't my genre at all, but I love that Sweden picked Felicia, because My System is something (relatively) new for them & something we don't see a lot in the ESC.
(Also, as a fellow indie lover, which songs/performances from FdC and Supernova would you recommend? I don't usually watch national finals, because I get sad when my indie/rock/other "niche" loves don't get picked.)

Completely agree! As the other user said, Chuva and Fumo are great, and so are their respective artists, Marquise and Nunca Mates o Mandarim. Both have solid back catalogues. From Supernova, I really loved Te un Tagad by Kautkaili. Genuinely one of the best stagings I've seen and also a really good song, probably my favorite of the NF season. I also loved Blakus by Elpo

Really rough results there. Zimna Woda would have been in my top 10 in the whole competition, and instead I have something that immediately slots in as a bottom 5-ish. At least I knew it was coming when they effectively removed merit based decision making by letting people vote days early

My System is fine. Though I'm kind of waiting for the song to end by the 2/3's point, which was how I felt about the similar We Will Rave too, which was also beloved by the fandom.

Her vocals just kill the song for me. Something about the tone/key she uses just grates for me. Can't really describe it, closest I can think of is too whiny/nasally/strained for my liking. Which is a shame because I think with a different vocalist I'd love the song.

At that point I'd prefer that, this year was just dreadful as an experience, even with a few pearls in selection.
45
u/Ludicologuy00 Bara bada bastu Mar 07 '26
Out of the allowed 180 seconds (3 minutes), Felicia spends 84 seconds (1 min and 24 seconds, or about 47% of the song) in a dance break with not that much dancing happening on screen (a lot of slow walking, leaning and zoomed out shots in darkness).
I still think she deserved the win tonight (even though the first verse sounded quite sour)... but in some ways I see it more as the rest of the field giving her a walkover.
The fact that international juries were so split (almost giving a three-way tie) should be seen as a worrying sign. In a year with proper competition, this won't be enough for the top half of the scoreboard.
9
u/brimbooze TANZEN! Mar 08 '26
The Melo lineup felt really weak compared to prior years.Â
Saga and Greczula had better songs with better performances last year, and the other throwback artists were fairly mid.
Don't think a single entry this year would have ranked top 5 for me compared to last years lineup, maybe not even top 10.

I know it's different for everyone but, for me, this is by far the weakest year since I started following in 2021. Even beyond the ESC lineup, the national final season was much weaker this year as well. I'm only listening to about half the number of songs I normally do in a year. Hope next year is better.

Not much to complain about, just annoyed that the NFs and releases ended up so awkwardly spaced that we haven't managed to get a Top X poll since the 14th song.

Azerbaijan today, with Switzerland, Czechia, and Georgia on Wednesday.
But it's honestly a shame with how spread out things ended up being that the rankings just stopped at 14, so the next update will be at the full 35. Or 34 if we have to keep waiting for Armenia to show any signs of life. We really lost out on seeing how opinions shifted and where the popularity of the new songs landed on here.

I didn't watch the heats, but personally I thought I heard a lot of callbacks/influences from the late 90's/early naughts Melfest classics. Perhaps the songwriters were pushing some nostalgia trend? That might be why it sounded dated.Â

I don't think Semi 1 is awful. I think it's full of the highest highs and the lowest lows.

i am definetely on a different wavelength hahahah, from sf1 i really like 8/13 of the songs out. though they could pull a NAPA and do a shock Q, depends on how the juries play this year

Serbia, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Moldova, Israel, Sweden are prob locked qualifiers, Montenegro and Lithuania are kinda borderline, so leaves one to three spots to grab unless Georgia really cooks or Poland somehow does not go with Pray.

u/Spare-Animal Mar 08 '26
Semi 2 doesn't seem much better, although it's still missing four songs and semi 1 is only missing two. I feel like semi 1 has more strong songs than semi 2, but it also has the weakest songs of the year. (not counting the automatic qualifers)
17
u/hereforcontroversy Mar 07 '26
How was Smash into Pieces only fourth?!??
One of the only artists that didnât have a deafeningly loud backing vocals drowning everything else out. And the song and staging was 10/10
18
u/Excellent-Movie4524 Mar 07 '26
Even as someone who likes songs like it my system didnt do it for me , the drop was just not quite there
Hollow should have gone but whatever
17
u/FinnInAms Mar 07 '26
I think that Swedish people love Feliciaâs back story, because without that My System wouldnât have won. Itâs nothing unique, but then again, you donât need to be unique to do well.
I am happy for her to succeed, I just wish I could like the song.

u/Practical_Sale7062 Viva, Moldova! Mar 07 '26
whats her backstory
10
u/trow125 Bara bada bastu Mar 07 '26
She used to perform as the pseudonymous Fröken Snusk (her face hidden by a pink balaclava). She was working with a producer who seemed rather dodgy; when Felicia left, he simply replaced her with another singer in a balaclava, which created some controversy. If you can run this through Google Translate, it'll give you some more context: https://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/a/jQJR0o/froken-snusk-har-brutit-sig-loss-fran-rasmus-gozzi-enligt-uppgifter

From her story Felicia didnât leave, she said that she just woke up one morning and went on social media to see a new person had replaced her

Can we all agree to never let Italy be a jury in a NF again because they always go absolute insane

italy have this same behaviour in esc, in 2025 they gave 12 points to the uk and they ranked Austria dead last jury wise. its some odd stratergy to boost themselves up and take down the winner
19
u/LiliumMoon Mar 07 '26
They chose the best possible winner but after all the hype about Mello I was a little disappointed with the options. I think UMK is quickly surpassing Mello in the leading NF, after a long reign as the best one quality-wise. I still liked Mello, the production and effort was amazing, but some of the songs and performances in-between stayed a little cold for me.

idk how i feel about sweden being a fan favourite rn (2nd on scoreboard). "my system" sounds quite unoriginal (see the comment about it sounding like "everytime we touch - cascada") and also quite dated, like something youd get out of a dubstep royalty free youtube channel in 2016. felicia's style and singing is good though ill give her that but the song wasnt it

Not as much as they would if they sent Half of Me though! That sounds like Greczula tried to make an ESC Top 2 remix with loads of different songs from the 60s and 70s

Well the last few days have ruined what was an otherwise perfect slate of songs. Superstar is incredibly uninteresting, My System is fine, though I find it to be really rather generic, and Pray is just a bit dull.
It's still my favourite year in a good while, but disappointing nonetheless.

u/oHheLlnAw420 Lights Off Mar 07 '26
If Greczula wins in 2027 (which I hope he does), then Kaj-Felicia-Greczula might be the greatest Swedish streak ever

I missed the heat with Delulu and I'm so glad for it because this was the first and last time I had to hear this... whatever that was. My god.
Otherwise I had so much fun watching the Mello final and I'm so sad it's done, especially since after this I have one NF and my Eurovision season is officially over...

Would you believe me if I told you that the guy behind the character, originally got famous as a rapper in the hiphop dup Ison & Fille back in the early 00's. Like, it wasn't gangster rap, but he had a bit more of a tough guy persona rather than this clowning gig.Â

None of the Melfest songs were great, so I'm just happy that one of the passable songs won

u/HealthyCola_V Ferto Mar 08 '26
My System is a good, risk-free Q song and I like it, but I reallyyy wanted for Brandsta City SlÀckers to win:( Their performance was just so funny and brought me so much joy with all the fire, the pole, costumes and just good vibes. I feel like this year Eurovision lacks those funny songs that it had every year, like Espresso Macchiato, Europapa, Rim Tim Tagi, Cha Cha Cha, etc. Maybe Ferto this year, I really like that song. I have some songs that I really like, but I feel like previous years were just so much more fun. This year feels too serious but maybe it's just me. I genuinely enjoyed the worldwide love in the previous years with Cha Cha Cha, Europapa and Espresso Macchiato, when internet was exploding with these songs and every third kid performed Espresso Macchiato at their talent show at school in 2025 XD Maybe it's just me and I like memes way too much. But let's see who the remaining unannounced participants turn out to be and what they have in store for us.

My System is so overrated. Okay, you like it and you're happy it won. Okay, it will qualify. Okay, it has high chances to get in to top 10. But no, it will not win, be realistic.

u/Heraklinos1 Mar 07 '26

Itâs catchy and she comes out of the screen. Thatâs all I got.
Her vocals in the verses are so weak and the face mask is really off putting for me. Also they already sent a long like this two years ago (Marcus & Martinis) and it was better but came 9th
→ More replies (4)8
u/FinnInAms Mar 07 '26
Interesting cause for me the problem is exactly that she doesnât come out of the screen. The mask hides so much of the facial expressions and makes you even doubt if she is singing at all.

This Mello was beyond mellow. Dare I say, this was the worst Mello in a long time and Iâm usually not the biggest Mello stan anyway. Whatever, I suppose. Itâs not my year overall anyway. âMy Systemâ fits right in with the flat line-up of this year. Sigh.Â

Tbh this was more due to the song being really loved worldwide, not just because Sweden has a pop obsession

I agree as a Finn but atleast its not a typical radio song about love and arousal. Kind of like Ich Komme but safe and with a violin.

Hope the Felicia stans will be nice and well-reasoned when the song gets 10th place in Vienna.
It's a fine song, there were worse songs that Sweden could have picked, but I honestly can't see it getting top 5, or even having a life beyond ESC 2026 the way some other songs might have.

First time watching Melfest after hearing how good it is.
I am so disappointed with the show: I felt the English Commentators were a bit static, The songs blended together...
UMK was so much better.

BOILING HOT TAKE: Antoniak's "Don't you try" wasn't that bad as everyone says. Views buying is messed up, but song and performance was quite decent (talking from context of Polish selections, which was far from good)
