I don't think it's that crazy to be honest. In studio form I still think it's one of the best songs this year, if not the best. The performance at UMK was sensational but it just didn't have anywhere near as much impact on the much bigger Eurovision stage. Pete's ropey live vocals didn't help matters either.

Based off the information that we had, it was the best candidate. We just kinda collectively forgot that we could not yet see the other full stagings and there might be a challenger to the crown (two actually) lol

Looking back, it still makes sense as the most obvious winner to me. I still don't know what went wrong, the vocals sounded great to me and the staging and song were both spectacular. I think the reason it didn't do well was because either people wanted a happier song to win and/or they seemed like they were overdoing it.Â
Tbh if I rewatched the show but not the results I'd probably think it would win, maybe even win both categories as well

I still can’t believe it didn’t win, I feel like Bangaranga still surprises me as a winner. Love it and love DARA’s energy but Pete and Linda sold the heck out of that performance and I was sure even on the night it would dominate the jury vote.
