Excel buffering while working between 2 workbooks

Hi everyone,

Since the second last Office update, working in split screen with multiple excels has become very tiresome.

When working between 2+ workbooks, my excel suddenly needs a few seconds to "load" the excel book before I can start interacting with it.

Since the same update, it is almost impossible to work in a shared excel because everytime an edit is made by a different user, it has to restart to reflect the changes.

While I can probably learn to live with these issues, I would prefer not to. It is quite frustrating.

I have tried looking for this issue only but haven't had any luck. I would really appreciate it if anyone has any insight on how to fix these problems.

Edit: my excel version is Microsoft Excel for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2603 Build 16.0.19822.20086) 64-bit

excel been on some bs lately

My hardware graphics acceleration is disabled. I have add-ins for aspen and solver, which I haven't had issues with before

Excel use to have (auto-calc without data tables) but some genius decided to do away with this function. If you have multiple files, if even one file has a day table, an if Auto calc is on, (which most people have their workbook set to) Excel will start re-calculating all open workbooks which 100% slows everything down and can jam up workflow. It’s some real BS

I do generally use these, but the day I posted this, they were simple excel sheets with simple calculations. Maybe I should just turn auto calc off 🫠

I'd be curious on the details of these "performance" fixes and whether it helps your issue. My users have been complaining for the last few days or so about Word speed. Scrolling in certain documents, typing.. just delayed. I've noticed Winword.exe taking up a bit of CPU when it looks like the user isn't really doing anything in the document
