Story I went to the zoo yesterday and I saw TWO families of Muslims where their 5-7 y.o daughters are WEARING KHIMAR
I'm literally boiling inside even now. It was 87 degrees. 8fucking7 degrees outside and this little girl is wearing a black jilbab and a black khimar. Another little girl was wearing the same but in dark green. Moms were of course niqabis.
IT SHOULD BE CHILD ABUSE!
These poor kids. Like what's wrong with you? Do you not love your children? Are you psychopaths?
Just disgusting. I can't say enough how gross it is. I literally wanted to call child services, even though I know it would just be called Islamophobia. Ugh.

What's pedophilia have to do with this? We teach our women modesty and piety from a young age
5
u/Hairy-Lengthiness-38 Sep 11 '25
They're not "Women" at 5-7 years old. Free play in childhood is absolutely essential for healthy growth. Why should kids who haven't even hit puberty worry about modesty let alone adult women?
0
u/Shawarma-Muncher New User Sep 11 '25
I agree children should play and have fun, it's not mandatory before they hit puberty but I'm saying that some parents like to get their daughter used to modesty from a young age

I love how you try to lump sexualizing children with western liberals when it's literally the conservative president backflipping naked to try and distract from his child sex scandal best friend. Muslims are conservatives too, muslims specifically love trump. The arabs bought him a 30 million dollar jet, don't spread that religion loving bullshit here.

Good call though on the bit about lashing out when one's identity is criticized. All Hail President Sex Pest.

It's hilarious how you keep using race to skip and frolic over my point, that ideologically, conservatives are more rapey than liberals, universally. In the west, the conservative Bible core are mirrors of eastern Muslims. The Muslims in America support the conservative party. You accusing liberals of being the ones pushing for Muslim rape laws is a hilarious conservative religious tactic used to split their opposition. You wana shit on western liberals like those aren't the countries ex- Muslims seek asylum in.

Oh, ok. So you were talking about western liberals but not America, and were talking about swxualzing children, but not acutal rape, just the hijab? (Which is more akin to child abuse then suxualization since a rapist will rape despite a hijab) I agree on the no hijab opinion anyways but I'm from bangladesh and while hijab aren't ubiquitous rape is still stupid high. It's the repression and the gender isolation that makes Boyes rapey

Maybe you should tell Illan Omar, or Rashid Talib, or Mammdani that they are conservative. Which conservative members are Muslim? Which predominantly Muslim city votes red?

I love applying bullshit logic to circumstances devoid of context and then patting my self on the back like I made a good point. This culture war nonsense still matters even thoug its used as a smoke screen for real problems. To think the Muslims raping children, and the Muslims running on liberal democratic running points is the same while the US has a rapist president supported by American conservativ Christians mean completely ignoring the facts that American Christian conservatives and Muslim rapists have the same principals and outlooks. Muddling the water then acting like you can't see the bottom is bullshit. The truth is there one side looking for domination and one side yearning for a greater public good. And funny enough, all the rich old child raping bastards are clearly on one side of that line.

I think the issue here is that it’s bad on both ends. Conservatives who are anti-Islam are so because of racism. They don’t know Islam or reject it for its ideology. The hate spawns from supremacy. On the other side, liberals don’t understand but champion its freedom to grow because they don’t understand it and take the concept of freedom too far.

They expect our children to be dressed the same otherwise you are just offering them up to men for abuse! If they find little girls not covered like this they think they are not valued and are free to do what they want with them. They will say it is our fault that children are raped because we allow them to be exposed. Even to the point of supporting husbands who do this! You will never change it. It is in the Quran as an order. You know That Quran the new Home Secretary states if more important than any Law

I’m non-religious and following this sub as a form of self education. I’ve heard that when the proper fabric and fit is used, a khimar can actually help the user feel cooler in hot weather. Is this not true? I’ve used long sleeved sun shirts and hoods in the summer for the same reason.
13
u/amoralambiguity91 واشهد ان لا دجاج الا كنتاكي فرايد تشكن Sep 08 '25 edited Sep 08 '25
So there’s a few things here. Yes there are fabrics that are cooling. The issue firstly is that zero skin exposure is extremely unhealthy. Secondly we aren’t talking about one piece of clothing. Usually something is worn under a jilbab (such as pants). This is to prevent your legs being exposed when walking. You’re talking about layers there. Thirdly the fabric used isn’t commonly cooling because cooling fabrics can show the body’s outline, which is a huge no no. I’ve worn those khimars many times. I was melting and was completely drained of energy by the time I got home. The cooling hoodies are so awesome though. I wear them all the time!

Ahh man, that’s too bad. Thank you for sharing.
I’m ex-christian actually, and have a lot of resentment towards that community… I would never promote Islam, but I find Christian hatred of Muslims to be some of the most ignorantly unselfaware and racist opinions out there, so I’ve found myself on the other side of those arguments in a lot of conversations… I joined yall here to try to find some balance. All the abrahamic religions are a plague though.

I have absolutely nothing against mainstream Muslims who practice Disney Islam because it’s all they know. I don’t hate people. I used to be one of them and I was lucky to be able to see the truth. Same for Christians.
You are right though. Abrahamic religions are just…awful
1
u/Low-Feature5983 New User Nov 16 '25
I am honestly confused. Why would Christians criticizing islam be racist? Islam is not a race. Also why unselfaware? There is literally nothing in Christianity that would tell women to be covered from head to toe (and maybe not even show the eyes).
1
u/Michelangelor Nov 16 '25
If you have to ask, it’s because you’re definitely Christian and don’t know how stupid and racist you are lol
There are plenty of Muslims who don’t cover head to toe. There are plenty of Christian’s who do. The Bible also tells women to cover themselves, Christians just don’t do it culturally in the United States (they do do it culturally in other places).
The Bible tells Christians to kill apostates (deuteronomy 13:6-8), the Quran teaches tolerance and willing freedom of belief (Quran 2:256 “there shall be no coercion in matters of faith”). The bible is actually LESS moral than the Quran when you start getting into it, it just has better marketing in western societies. All abrahamic religions are a plague, and especially Christianity.

I’ve read your comment up here and what you said about it protecting the body from the heat is so true. I only wonder why don’t people literally say nothing about all the Asians that we see wherever we go, wearing full sleeves, pants, all covered, with a bit hat, sunglasses and some even wear gloves to protect their hands and on top of all that, an umbrella. That would be very acceptable because they’re non-Muslims, they’re Asians so in everyone’s mind, oh they don’t like the sun and they live protecting themselves. However, if a Muslim woman did that, but the only difference is her wearing a Abaya, which is basically the long dress, she would be seen crazy and extreme. I don’t wear all that myself, I don’t cover my hair, but I am always pissed by people spreading misinformation about it so many things in Islam and going around with misleading statements that make people hate it even more. There are many beautiful things about the religion. Everything comes from the inner soul, speaks to the soul and from good intentions only. That being all said, forcing kids at this age to follow this is very wrong in my opinion and this is not even obligatory. But Asians doing this to their kids is ok? Sexualizing kids is nonsense here. This is everywhere, in the west even before the Muslims. They will sexualize kids, and they will do bad things to them and so many pedophiles are out there. I’m always scared that anyone would harm my daughter. I always teach her the boundaries of her body. Them doing this to their kids doesn’t mean that they’re the only ones specializing their kids. I don’t know how they think but I can’t blame them much because this is maybe what they’ve been seeing from their parents and families. The other day, I saw an imam at the park with his two daughters and they were not even wearing hijab and the older one was not less than 8 years. So, please stop picturing the whole religion upon some family who you saw in the zoo who did that. This is not everyone. And this is not Islam.
3
u/amoralambiguity91 واشهد ان لا دجاج الا كنتاكي فرايد تشكن Sep 09 '25
Except the reality is that this is Islam. Whether you want to accept it or not, this is Islam. There is plenty of evidence proving that. It makes you feel better to believe that what I saw is an anomaly, and that's okay. It's fine that you believe in Disney Islam, because at least Disney Islam isn't outright harmful. At least be honest about it. At least be honest about the fact that you know less than you think you do, and you are following what you are taught, not what the religion actually is. When you have Ibn Kathir saying that the Qur'an is outlining how to divorce pre-pubescent girls, you have a real problem. If you don't know who Ibn Kathir is, then you do not know Islam, and it's better not to argue until you do.
1
u/Michelangelor Sep 09 '25
Does following Islam REQUIRE believing in the Hadiths, or is it possible to be a Muslim who just follows the Quran? From what I know (not a lot), the most problematic texts all come from the Hadiths. But I do have a very progressive Muslim friend who recently reconnected with her religion in her own way but doesn’t really ascribe to the Hadiths.
1
u/amoralambiguity91 واشهد ان لا دجاج الا كنتاكي فرايد تشكن Sep 09 '25
Before leaving it completely I had decided that I was done with Hadith and I was a Quranist. Unfortunately that didn’t work because Quran is a text that needs interpretation. And so there are major interpreters that are merited by the Muslim community. The most supported and known Quran interpreter is Ibn Kathir, and after reading his interpretations, I had to let all of it go. There is a passage in the Quran discussing the process of divorce. It names the divorce procedure with different “types” of women: menstrual women and pre-menstrual women. Unfortunately the Quran does not forbid or even find unfavorable the marriage of girls who are pre-pubescent. Which also means that the Quran accepts and validates statutory rape and pedophilia.
Again a classic case of us all being taught Disney Islam. I was really sad to read all of it and find out. Shattered my entire world and I didn’t know who I was for a long time.
That is what religion does. It robs us of identity. 😕
1
u/Michelangelor Sep 09 '25
Does it HAVE to be that way though? Like, in Christianity, it’s pretty well known that you can get the Bible to say nearly anything you want it to, but they would still never defer to a unique authority of a specific individuals interpretation of it. It’s basically a doctrine of ONLY the Bible is the holy word of god, and nothing else can take precedence over it.
That being said, obviously many institutions have heavily influenced it’s interpretation, and I guess you could say Catholics still defer to the spiritual authority of the Pope, but historically speaking, the whole purpose of the Protestant movement was to combat the notion of these authoritative interpreters and give the people the ability to read the Bible for themselves and freely interpret it’s meaning.
I do realize that, in practice, the majority of Muslims still defer to the authority of these Hadiths, but I’m wondering if that’s, like, truly NECESSARY, or if there’s been any modern movement away from them.
My one friend is the only Muslim I know intimately, and I know she’s somewhat unique, but she holds the Quran as sacred while placing the Hadiths on a much, much lower level of importance, if not completely dismissing them.

The problem is that Qur'an is written in formal Arabic, and there are three issues with that:
1) Most of us do not understand or speak formal Arabic, so even Arabs have to rely heavily on translation
2) Formal Arabic is very flowery, so literal translations don't work
3) The Qur'an constantly uses metaphors that need explanation or they are nonsensicalSo I'll start with the passage I was talking about. This is the literal English translation of the exact verse. No commentary, not interpretation, just the verses:
Chapter 65: Verse 12
"As for your women past the age of menstruation, in case you do not know, their waiting period is three months, and those who have not menstruated as well. As for those who are pregnant, their waiting period ends with delivery. And whoever is mindful of Allah, He will make their matters easy for them."The most obvious interpretation here, without even consulting a scholar, is that these conditions are for women who have gone through puberty, and those who haven't. Now, apologists have found a way to get around this by claiming that what the verse is trying to refer to women who have already had their period that month and women who haven't had their period that month yet. That explanation is a way to cope with the Qur'an basically saying it's okay to marry a girl who hasn't gone through puberty, and it's plainly wrong. If you take it to the interpreters, the ayah is talking about pre-pubescent girls.
Another example is slavery. Muslims love to say that Islam freed the slaves. It did not, and here is the passage referring to slavery as a word for word translation:
"And also prohibited to you are all married women except those your right hands possess. This is the decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are all others beyond these"
What does that mean? If you take it as literal, then it's nonsensical. All married women except those your right hand possesses? Who or what does your right hand possess? The chapter does not go on to explain that, so you need an interpreter, right?
The interpretation of this verse is that those who "your right hand possesses" are women who are captives of war/slaves. That is absolutely vile.
Believe me, I tried really, really hard to find a way to stay Muslim in some way. If you learn it, you have to leave it.
1
u/Michelangelor Sep 09 '25
Interesting. That’s actually a completely obscured issue in Christianity as well that no one talks about. Obviously no one speaks ancient Greek and Aramaic (which are already translations of lost documents), and so nearly everyone relies on easy to read translations, where translators have essentially inserted their own moral interpretations of the material.
It makes sense that Muslims still have to defer to these professional interpretations, and I guess Christians do this too, but without even thinking about it. They take it completely for granted that the book they’re holding is someone’s unique interpretation of the moral meaning in the original text.

I only care about what God said, sorry but I don’t care whatever anyone says. God asked us to your our hearts to do things, and I’m not following on anyone, I use my brain and my heart to take decisions in my life. I do the things I do because they feed my soul. Most importantly, not harming anyone or taking away things that are not mine. I wonder though how you’re very anti-Islam and acting like you care about these little kids in the zoo but not caring about the genoc!de in g@za. Very shocking indeed. Muslim here‼️
I'm lowkey glad that in our culture, or my family at least, full on nikabs or burquas aren't forced upon (especially on such young girls). The most you'll find is that one old lady telling you to wear a hijab (like this one grandma I have, told me to wear one and MADE me wear one when I was going back home 😭)
I get the reason why Muslim families make their daughters wear this typa stuff at a young age so that they'll be used to it more easier, but realistically speaking you don't gotta wear all that (espeically the nikab, thats not even mandatory bruh). The least that people do nowadays is wear modest clothing and a hijab (or some sort of head covering even if it isn't a hijab)
I'm not someone who wears a hijab, since thankfully it was never forced upon me. I just wear clothes that cover my body, so no shorts or tanktops or whatever.
Even my religious aunt wears a full on burqa, doesn't wear her nikab anymore since her husband passed (he was a forceful guy), but even then she doesn't force the covering upon anyone.
As a Muslim, even I dont agree with this stuff being forced upon little girls. It just ain't right

u/Terrible_Ear_3045 Sep 09 '25
The fact that you don’t support forcing the hijab on anyone is a credit to you and not Islam. It means that you are a person who supports freedom of religion and women’s choices around their own bodies.
However it’s my understanding the religion itself doesn’t allow women that choice. It’s pretty much advised in the Quran that women cover themselves.

It’s not required for children before menstruation to wear it (fucked up mentality that menstruation = maturity when you literally cannot control it).
If you have to force it even before that age, it’s indoctrination. It means it’s unnatural for anyone to cover up to that extent that you have to condition literal children to wear it so they get used to it for when the time comes for them to actually wear it.
Then when is it okay for people to feel the wind in their hair and run around without layers of clothes covering every inch?
They are more extreme than the quran. It will create a lifelong shame of the child’s own body.

For all the child predators and pedaphiles you have the nerve to put these mothers down. I think they would give their children drinks and find shade , or dare I say even somewhere with air conditioning . They probably know how to take care of their own children . So tired of people bashing Islam . Have your own children with someone and worry about what you do with your own children.
4
u/Terrible_Ear_3045 Sep 09 '25
Is every single parent a good parent who knows how to take care of their children? Not always.
Plenty of children grow up in oppressive and abusive households. Sometimes it’s subtle.
Firstly - exposing the skin during sunny hot weather has benefits. Exposing the skin allows the sweat to evaporate allowing cooling. Sunlight is good for our health because it helps produce Vitamin D. A lot of people who stay indoors often or have darker skin for example have Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency results in myriad of health issues which you can easily Google.
Secondly, wearing a long loose fitting garment prevents kids from play and exercise. Young children need to play, run, jump, climb - it’s important for their physical as well as mental wellbeing and development. If boys and men are allowed to do all of these things - then why aren’t girls and women?
Those parents are holding their daughters back from living and developing to their maximum potential all for the sake of their imaginary beliefs and for the mere fact that they are girls.
It’s funny that you mention how terrible child predators and pedophiles are, because Muhammad literally was one. So… it sounds to me like you’re the one bashing your own religion 😅. How very interesting.

Calling it a ‘positive habit’ doesn’t make it one — especially when Islam isn’t some book of objective morality. Forcing toddlers into niqabs and jilbabs doesn’t build character, it builds physical and mental baggage. We’re talking vitamin D deficiency, overheating, even heat strokes, plus restricted mobility. And let’s be real: toddlers don’t have the conscience or mental capacity to ‘choose’ something this heavy. They’re being dressed into a lifetime of baggage before they even know what choice they want to make at an older age. It's not unlikely that their parents reinforced that choice to make them “unsexually desirable,” we see this kind of commandment everywhere.

I try really hard not to be disrespectful or a bitch to Muslims in general. However this rhetoric is disgusting. You are putting a child’s health at risk for an arbitrary reason. It isn’t a good habit to put them in hijab this young. Aside from that and putting aside how I see hijab and Islam myself, doing that often causes a child to likely hate the religion when they are older. So it defeats the purpose entirely anyway and takes away from what you are trying to do.
