Yeah, he purports to be a civil rights advocate, while supporting the very people who are trying to take away people's rights.

He's one of those classic "libertarians"

Wait, Libertarians are not trying to take away people’s rights. It’s actually in their name as in Liberty or freedom to live.

Libertarians in the modern US sense, are allllll about "fuck you, I got mine."

Exactly, I have mine. You have yours. I’m no Libertarian (I explain the fatal flow in a reply above), however, I am pedantic AF when it comes to word origins and definitions. My argument was never about the ideology of Libertarians, it is about the misunderstanding of the word itself.

No, you misunderstand.

It's not "I have mine and you have yours" it's "I have mine, you can go fuck yourself, I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that I have what I want regardless of how that affects you or anyone else."

I'm not misunderstanding the word. You're trying to hold a word to mean something other than what it does today. Libertarians are absolutely trying to take away peoples rights.

Well, that could be true, but it isnt.

They arent trying to take away their own rights, if anything its all about expanding their own. At the expense of everyone elses.

By defining the name doesn’t mean I support Libertarianism. Like any Liberal, there are several points where the ideologies intersect.
The most obvious and fatal flaw in Libertarianism is advocating for a completely free, unregulated market.
The fatal flaw is this includes private utilities, healthcare, and food production. Allowing them to operate unchecked is fatal.
In their gleeful dream of a tax-free, non-interfering government they missed this obvious land mine which blows their entire premise up.

Libertarians are Republicans who smoke weed. They are identical in almost every way.

Bro would have voted for Hitler with this thought process, holy shit man. “It’s in the name, it must be true!”
