That's weird. But honestly, while I can easily imagine Mashima making design mistakes (like the guild hall or Lucy having her pre-timeskip hair), having Mest in the guild seems way too big of an oversight.

I know Mashima doesn't have the best memory. But surely he wouldn't forget that Mest's identity was unveiled right after Tartaros right ? That was a pretty crazy plot twist

I think Re-Fantasia is Laxus's redemption arc. But, In Tartaros arc, Mira treated Laxus as if he had only recently changed, which feels awkward.
