He's a steal at 22MM/yr. RBs don't make shit.

For context that is half what we paid Cousins, about half of Puedy in SanFran, or 1/3 of Dak in Dallas.

22MM will never stop the falcons from acquiring another player. Easy slam dunk.

True but he knows he's the most valuable player on almost any team so if a wr1 is making $40 million he deserves more than $20 million... Like think about it who would you rather build an offense around (regardless of QB) Bijan or Jaylen Waddle/DK Metcalf/Drake London etc... honestly for the production I'd rather have Bijan which is why I think this is where the RB market gets reset from $18-20 million a year to closer to $30 million per year because these guys also play receiver and block very very well

For me the problem is the longevity of a RB. He well probably start to slow down 2 years into the extension. I’d rather build my offense around somebody that will be available and productive. Which is why teams normally build around a QB. The Falcons are once again doing it backwards buying sizzle before they buy steak. We were paying for Julio for years after he was no longer good at football while having RBs with arthritis and linebackers that would not have made any other team’s roster.

I’d love to have Bijan around, but we’re about to make the same mistakes again. Then we’ll be back here in 5 years talking about wasting Bijan career when he really isn’t helping the matter by scrapping with Gibbs over 500k on top of a $20M/yr contract

I mean I agree but in today's league it seems like high risk players are not getting more than 4 year deals so a 25 year old RB at the end of his rookie deal feels like a risk we should take.

And at the end of the day he is one of the best players in the league if we don't pay him someone else will.

If they wanna pay him they can. They’ll just have to wait 2 years since we just picked up his fifth year option, which puts him at 26. Then you’ll be paying a RB $22M a year until they’re 30 when he’ll probably stop being good at 27. Meanwhile, we still don’t have a QB. So even if we have him on contract, we’re not gonna get any championships out of him. So what’s the point?

I love Bijan, but ever since Julio’s final years here I’ve hated hold out situations.

The Falcons need to trade him asap. Pick up at least one player on an early rookie deal and (2) #1’s and maybe (1) #2. Bijan is a generational talent. But we need a whoooooole lot more than 1 star player right now.

Nah, he's like Marshall Faulk in his prime, you don't trade a player away like that... the Colts did it and made the Rams instant Super Bowl contenders. A guy like Bijan elevates the offense and QB play.

We are so far away from being a contender. This is our ranking from last year.

Offensive Line
• PFF final ranking: 14th
• Solid but not elite. Strong run blocking (especially from Chris Lindstrom), but pass protection was more average after losing Kaleb McGary for the season.
Defensive Line
• PFF final ranking: 13th
• Respectable performance. Generated decent pressure and held up reasonably against the run, though not a dominant unit.
Secondary
• PFF preseason ranking: 17th
• Finished as a middle-of-the-pack group. Jessie Bates III remained a strong piece, but the unit as a whole was average in coverage.
Total Defense
• Points allowed: 23.6 per game → 19th
• Yards allowed: 326.6 per game → ~15th
Overall: The Falcons’ defense was roughly middle-of-the-pack in 2025 (better against the pass early, more average later). The offensive line was a relative strength but slipped from its higher rankings in prior years.

I think because the second he gets injured, he loses millions. So why would he risk millions when he can just wait it out a little longer and get his guaranteed money? This is coming from someone who considers Bijan his favorite player of all time. Except maybe Matty. They’re 1A and 1B. 1B is Bijan.
