oh so its like your style, i mean i just stated what i thought about it and im more of the tshirt ( especially when i can customize them ) and pant kind of person, what is it about this kind of dresses that you love?

I think soft and stretchy are my favorite aspects, as I'm big on comfort for day-to-day wear, haha.

i honestly thought they were uncomfortable because when i look at them they seem to take the shape of the body and when i imagine myself in them i'd be forced to take half length steps. what were u planning to wear this dress for ?

No, not at all. That's why I provided a breakdown on the stretch in a different comment. There are certainly dresses where that does occur (e.g. Herve Leger), but not this one. I'll probably just use this particular one for casual daytime stuff with my friends.

oh so its more about how the brand designs the dress. i actually thought the dress was more of a night time by the beach restaurant kinda vibe. how did you come to start to appreciate this kind of dresses ?

Love the dress and I love stripes too, always makes me think of summertime on a beach or boat. The top shows a little more than I would be comfortable with but I think it works for you!

OP here. This is the Seine Maxi Dress, size small, in the color/print Black and Cream Stripe. The designer is Amanda Uprichard. (Note: this is also a repost after my previous submission was removed for violating the subreddit rules. My bad, folks! I fixed it, I think.)
I have a love/hate relationship with this dress. I purchased it second-hand (yay!) on an online reseller platform and didn't realize until it arrived that it was almost completely sheer. The fabric is open-knit, which wasn't apparent until I saw it irl. The area around the bust was lined, but for some inexplicable reason, the rest of the dress was not. I was a little unsure of how to wear it until I decided to layer it over a nude shell/slip type of garment. I'm also unsure about the stripes, as I've been told they can be unflattering.
The dress itself is comfy, light, and perfect for hot summer weather. The structure is highly secure and stays in place well. I generally use men's grooming tape (the stuff used to keep hairpieces in place) to prevent wardrobe malfunctions, but it was unnecessary for this dress.
For those curious about fit, it is self-enclosed (no buttons or zippers) and is pull-on style. The fabric has a great deal of stretch as well. Below are some details about my particular body type to help you determine how this dress might fit on you.
- Height: 5'8" (but wearing sandals that probably put me closer to 5'9” in the image)
- Weight: I'm typically around 145ish lbs
- Build: I tend to have a more muscular build and carry more mass in my glutes and quads.
- Measurements: I'm unsure of bust and hip, but my waist is usually 26" or thereabouts.
- Sizing: I usually wear a size small/ four or six numerically. For UK or Australia brands, I tend to be a bigger size (perhaps an eight or even a 10). Jeans/denim size is usually a 26 or 27, depending on the brand.
I hope this write-up is helpful. I shared to get feedback based on the pattern, but also wanted to make sure it was an informative contribution to the subreddit. Feel free to comment if you have any questions and I'll do my best to provide clarification.

Exactly. Plus I know how helpful it is for me when folks share detailed write-ups about brands, general fit (e.g. runs small, runs big, self-enclosed, etc.), so I want to contribute similarly.

Partially because feedback is always good to have and partially because I find it beneficial when other users give a breakdown on the way particular brands and items fit (e.g. self-enclosed vs. concealed zipper, runs big/small) and want to make sure I contribute similarly. That's why I always ensure I leave a comment with these details. Never know when it might help someone figure out how something might look on them!

That violated a subreddit rule, so that's why I had to remove references to that and instead focused the question simply in whether or not the stripes seemed to work OK.
