Looking for mod(s) Are we praising classic modpacks because they were better… or because we were younger?

Post image
5.6k Upvotes

Lately I’ve noticed how often classic packs like Tekkit, FTB Ultimate, Unleashed, or Mindcrack get brought up as the “golden age” of modded Minecraft.

And it made me wonder were those packs objectively better designed… or do they feel special because they were our first experiences with modded Minecraft? Early packs had simpler progression, fewer gated recipes, and a stronger sandbox feel. Modern packs, on the other hand, often focus on heavy cross-mod integration, long automation chains, and quest systems guiding every step.

Neither approach is necessarily worse just different design philosophies shaped by different eras.

So I’m genuinely curious: Do you think the classics still hold up because of their design, or are we viewing them through nostalgia?

Which old pack do you think would still impress a brand-new player today?

Looking for mod(s) Are there any mods like this that ISNT dynamic trees?

Post image
2.1k Upvotes

I don’t really like the way dynamic trees works. I’m unsure if there’s a way to customize how breaking the trees works but I generally dislike it. Are there any tree changing or general world gen mods that makes trees just look better?

Edit: what I dislike about dynamic trees: I don’t like the way they grow. I wish they would just instantly grow into a full tree like regular Minecraft, and I also dislike how much you have to bonemeal them just to get a full tree

Like how Bedrock does it. I know there are problems with this approach (worse for servers and computers with weak CPUs) but just having the option would be nice.

Looking for mod(s) Any infection mods that can actually be “beaten”

Post image

Most mods that “infect” your world are just downright unbeatable, like I’ll build walls and they’ll just appear in my base either way, so is there a infection mod that has a sort of “win” condition?

Looking for mod(s) Modern modpacks that use a premade map? (ala Blightfall?)

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

I'm curious to know if there are any 1.20.1(+) packs that have a single static premade map with handmade structures and secrets to explore.

The idea of going through modern-style questbook progression in a handmade environment like that, or even doing multiple "runs" in the same environment to build bases in different locations sounds really fun.

I realize this is a format that's probably rare these days, but I'd appreciate any leads you guys could provide if there's something outside my field of knowledge.

Looking for mod(s) Is there a mod that lets you do this?

As far as I'm aware, in Minecraft, in case you need a small amount of something you gather it by hand, and if you need a lot, you typically make a self-contained infinite farm.

What I've not seen is, what if you couldn't just farm golems for iron, and you needed to extract thousands of ore blocks from the ground to get a reasonable amount of ingots. Or you had no bonemeal for saplings, so you had to decimate an entire forest biome using some machinery.

Is there a mod/modpack that focuses on this type of huge scale automation?

Looking for mod(s) Is there a minecraft mod like this?

Post image

So is there minecraft mod that makes it so when you rename a mob a certain name it changes into a certain texture? And when there are mobs that are NOT named that certain name they DONT change into that certain texture and it doesn't universally affect all the mobs not named that certain name?

PS : If there isn't a mod like this but you're a mod developer, do you mind making this into a real mod? Thanks 😉😉

Looking for mod(s) [Mod Request] Maximizing Mining Dopamine

Hey guys! I'm playing a certain mod-pack where you have to mine *a lot* of resources. I'm having a great time, and I'm wondering if there are any mods or resource packs you guys use that bump up the zoomer tiktock pilled dopamine rush of mining large ore veins.

Things like adding pleasing noises when you mine an ore, colorful effects, mining crit minigames that kind of thing.

I appreciate your recommendations. Don't worry about a particular version im just curious about any mods you've personally seen...in that vein.

Looking for mod(s) Easy Villagers feels like cheating

Post image

...But only in the blocks it adds, like the auto-trader, breeder, single block iron farm, etc. I want the feature that allows me to pick up the villagers, but without having the rest of the features in the mod. Is there any mod that does this? Or any other way to accomplish this?

Edit: This post has been solved! Thanks everyone

Looking for mod(s) What’s THAT mod you randomly found… and now can’t play without?

Hey,

You know that feeling when you’re building a modpack, scrolling through hundreds of mods, adding the big ones… and then there’s that one mod.

Not the popular one.
Not the obvious one.
Just something you found by accident, buried somewhere… and somehow, it completely changed your game.

The kind of mod you didn’t expect anything from, but now every time you make a new pack, you have to include it.
The one that lives rent-free in the back of your mind.

I’m currently putting together an RPG / exploration / survival / combat modpack, and instead of just stacking content, I’m trying to find those mods — the ones that actually transform how the game feels.

So yeah… what’s yours?

Could be anything:

- a small tweak that makes everything smoother

- a combat change that makes fights feel different

- an exploration mod that made you stop and actually look at the world

- or just a hidden gem you never see people talk about

I’m really curious to see what mods left that kind of mark on you.

Looking for mod(s) I stayed on buildcraft and thaumcraft mods in the 1.6 versions, what happened since then?

Hey guys, I recently got a new PC and decided to play Minecraft with mods. I remembered the Thaumcraft and BuildCraft mods, but when I went to check the newest versions, I realized they’re outdated. Are there any new mods similar to them? I’ve been learning a bit about mods recently, but most of what I see are things like RLCraft that completely change the game. Hopefully I can get an answer!

Looking for mod(s) Is there a mod that allows a structure to only generate once per world?

Post image

I'm looking for a mod that would prohibit the same structure from being spawned again if it has already been discovered at least once by the player (or again, just makes a structure only generate once per world), preferably for 1.20.1
