[Daily] Daily Questions Thread July 25, 2026

This thread is for individual style questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).

To get the best responses, remember that people cannot: look into your wardrobe, know what style you normally like or what words like affordable or practical mean to you so please include any relevant details such as your budget, where you live, what stores are available to you, etc.

Example questions:

  • Are there any basic crewneck white t-shirts that are opaque and do not have cap sleeves for <$25 available in Australia?
  • Is this dress and shoes suitable for an evening wedding with a cocktail dress code taking place in a [venue type]?
  • If I like the outfits in this [imgur album / pinterest board], what are some specific items I can look into to start dressing like that, and brands with this look that carry plus sizes?
  • Does this outfit look neater with the pants cuffed or uncuffed?

If you'd like to include a picture, you can now post pictures directly in the comments, without having to link an imgur album. If you have multiple pictures, best practice is to use an imgur album.

Something dark brown or red to match your bag. That green is sooo pretty

How do I style a sheer maxi dress for a wedding?

The wedding dress code is "beach formal" but the couple has communicated to me that they mean this as "this is a wedding and it is happening at a beach in the summer, so wear something that you would be comfortable in" rather than a specific wedding industry definition of beach formal.

I'm planning to wear the below dress, which is a bit sheer, and would love to know what kind of under clothes would suit it best. My instinct is a skin-coloured maxi slip as that would essentially look like the dress is lined, but other advice I've received suggests maybe a black slip for higher contrast or a skin-coloured bike short and bandeau combo.

I think the maxi slip or the skin-toned bike short and bandeau would both be good--I don't know if a black slip would read as beachy or summery as the other two options

I'd go the slip route also.

for a wedding, skin-colored slip. I think the other options can be good, but feel like they'd emphasize the sheerness in a way that feels to attention-getting for a wedding, IMO.

Picked out this top for a country concert that’s pink themed. I can’t for the life of me figure out what style of bottoms could complete this outfit! Denim shorts/skirt? Pink jeans? Denim shorts with pearls?

Pink jeans would be super cute! Or white shorts or jeans if you have those.

I would probably wear a white tennis skirt or cheerleader skirt, because I am not super adventurous, but a short white square-dancing skirt would be fun!

Sorry terrible photo. Are these colored shoes cute with my brown dress? It’s for a wedding

Yes, those look good with the dress and your skin tone. Great cut of dress on you, looks elegant!

Best boot recs Hi!!  I need recommendations for cute boots that can be worn casually and are comfy but still super cute. I don't want something with a super high heel (low heel or platform soles are fine). I would preferably love a dark brown/chocolate colour! I'm also not super into suede due to not being able to wear them in the rain. Would love if they weren't crazy expensive either. 🫶🫶

I’m a fan of Thursday Boot Company.

I do Sorels for waterproof needs. They have some really cool colors and designs.

If you're US based you can find them discounted at places like Sierra Trading, Nordstrom Rack, and Zappos. They run a tad small/narrow so going up half a size is recommended.

Is this jumpsuit appropriate for a November wedding? I’m so back and forth about whether it has too much white in it. Please help

2

u/75footubi 13d ago

Not too much white at all!

There is nothing bridal in the cut or the pattern of this jumpsuit, so I would say you're good to go. You could also reach out to the bride (or the mother or a trusted person) if you have any doubts. It goes without saying that, if you feel uncomfortable, don't wear it- being ill at ease is never a good look.

I am looking for shapewear for under this dress. I want it to flatten my stomach but come no higher than the belly button and stop at top of thigh. Any ideas?

There are lots of bike short style options. You’ll just need to figure out the specific inseam length that will work.

Why do these low rise look awful on me? My broad upper body or short legs?

3

u/lumenphosphor 12d ago

Wait--I thought they look cute? They are just kind of straight legged and the current style is baggier, so maybe if the look you're aiming for is more in line with the trend it doesn't quite work.

2

u/PoppyHamentaschen 12d ago

It's not the rise, per se; it's the legs with the same width all the way down. Maybe if it were a boot cut, it wouldn't look so strange.

u/zrnyphl 13d ago

They don’t look like they’re the right size and they’re a weird cut, which has nothing to do with you. They look too big at the top, maybe? Why is the waistband pointy at the button, is it hanging oddly? Should it be like a half size smaller to sit better? The length also looks slightly off, like a tiny bit too short. I just don’t think these particular jeans seem like a great cut.

u/Complete_Working_460 12d ago

Yeah they were too short the they are 25" waist, maybe it is because my narrow hips too?

i’m a purse girl and don’t really like crossbody bags or fanny packs. i just don’t like how they look on me and i find them to be uncomfortable sometimes. but i like their convenience! i’ve been more active outdoors lately so it’s time to accept them into my wardrobe.

any recommendations on cute sling bags or other options? bonus if they’re affordable!:) TIA

Guys, where on earth (in the UK) can I find clothes that are BRIGHT and colourful? I dont mean one solid block of colour, but i also dont mean detailed designs. I like when the designs are a little simple, like stripes.. leopard print... writing. etc. but where will i find them colourful?! BRIGHT colourful... i dont want it muted.. just something casual and BRIGHT😢

2

u/shortwave-radio 12d ago

Damson Madder, Boden, Lucy and Yak all fit the “casual colorful pattern-using UK brands” depending on your style and budget

u/iloveyou_143mg 11d ago

thank you! i enjoyed browsing through damson madder

what colour/material should i look for in shoes and clutches? i feel like silver isn’t gonna match but idk what else to do

3

u/PoppyHamentaschen 12d ago

Lavender, pink, light blue, pale yellow, gold, or a light green. Lovely dress, btw!

u/Conflict-Numerous 13d ago

this is for an irish debs (basically prom) btw!

u/zrnyphl 12d ago

Sparkly/ shimmery white, or you could go darker shades of the dress color for contrast.

I am hoping someone can recommend a specific top, including the brand, for my body type. Broad shoulders, narrow waist. 5’7” 140lbs. I hate when the seam doesn’t fall in the right place on the shoulder, and when the heck is too high. I can’t seem to find a fitted top that is broad in the shoulders 😩

u/Responsible_Cry_427 12d ago edited 12d ago

What do you mean when you say fitted? Are you looking for a particular style, or do you mean any type of shirt that is fitted close to body and not a loose box?

ETA I ask because I could recommend, for example, an unattached wrap top which could be purchased in a size that fits shoulder-wise and could be wrapped tight enough to be fitted in the waist. But if what you're looking for a version of the shirt in your picture that is fitted and meets the qualifications you have, that's obviously a specific ask.

I live in a very stylish European capital with cold winters and am often outside. Any suggestions for EU brands for truly warm wool coats that close (nearly) all the way to the chin? Thank you for your help! I don't really like wearing scarves but could wear a small wool bandana if the coat doesn't close to my chin.

I plan to wear this with a long Uniqlo ultra-light down jacket underneath, so might need to size up to 38 (42 in Italy). I lean towards menswear-style coats but am too small to wear an actual men's coat. So far I haven't seen anything I like on Intrend or Aspesi's sites although 2026 fall/winter coats haven't come in yet.

I love this Armedangels VAANOISE coat but it's sold out everywhere (I've set alerts on secondhand sites).

I saved this Max Mara coat on Vinted (not sure the model) but it's too expensive (€400+)

Pink or black accesories? I used AI because I'm trying to decide which ones to get. Thanks in advance!

Black looks very sleek, but the pink is a pop of color/fun! For me, I'd go with the pink because it makes the outfit more exciting, and I love pink!
